My Personal TX Squadron Skin - SPAD 13.C1
Posted 10 April 2010 - 07:33
I wanted a high-visibilty, competition skin - yet I wanted to use historical pre-1918 elements in it's construction.
The emblem on the Burnt Orange fueselage band, is the 1835 "Come and Take It" flag, which was the first flag of the Texas Revolution. This flag was made in my hometown, Gonzales Texas on the day before the first battle of the Texas Revolution. It was the first, "Lone Star" Flag.
Thanks for your consideration and taking the time to vote,
Edited April 14 - skin modified - error in flag on portside (flipped). Skin darkened slightly, boundry stripe added to top left wing, panel seperations cleaned up.

LOL…VERY nice skin Gunny. Can't wait to ride next to you in that skin.
Also, here's a picture of the original Texas "lone Star" flag that was made on the day that the first shots of the Texas Revolution were fired as referenced in Gunny's skin:

I've corrected a few errors (flag backwards on starboard fueselage - Thanks TOAD) and irregular seams. I've also darkened the skin a little and added a better stripe on the top right wing.
I hope some of you get a chance to download the skin and look at it in-game. It's very hard to find a single picture that captures all elements of this skin. I do wish I could have posted 1 or 2 more pics.
