That looks awesome. Definately one of the best looking skins for the Pfalz released yet.

Lovely job! :D

Thanks for sharing.

I've really struggled to get a slanting band around the DVa fuselage.

Wow! Nice color scheme!
But, huh, I have a question. Is this just me or the red and yellow are a bit too bright?

Those planes weren't used for years, the average carreer of a scout plane couldn't be more than a couple of months. So I didn't want to use too much weathering. I used some anyway, and tried to choose nice deep colors, not those typical RGB-only hues. It's not an over-used plane - had some missions, has some dirt and scratches on it, but it hasn't fought since 1914. :))

I strongly agree with Red on this one. If you are making a skin of an aircraft as it was in 1918, then it should look bright and colourful because it would only just have been painted. Service life of WWI aircraft was usually less than a year - often very much less, so there simply wasn't time for the paint to fade. For example, the very first Foker D.VIIs began to arrive in May-June 1918 and the war finished in November. So even if a D.VII lasted without being written off it could only be about six months old at maximum.

Of course, if you are making a skin to represent the original aircraft as it would appear today at 90+ years old in a museum, then fading is fine.

Cheers,

Nick

I haven't the time to rewatch this post, now I've found it.
It's ok, perhaps it's my config. I found that the yellow/red were much brighter than same colors in default skins coming with the game (I compared, ofr example, with the Jasta 30 Buckhard Pfalz DIIIa skin)

I think the colours are a bit too saturated. Just my opinion, could maybe lower the saturation a bit. Otherwise extremely good skin.

If I wrote something in this forum that is hurting or abuse a member, organisation or country? Let me know by pm for the corrections, please do not react back by bashing/trolling/flaming or other personal attacks!

Yep I’m an 2009 Rof pre-order buyer and one of the few that did buy the Sikorsky game.

NM, your incorrect. Paint faded fast then. The pigments were not light fast like today. Also whites turned yellow.

Is this your first skin? If yes, you get an extra 'thumbs up' from me.

Ideally the colour should be pretty close to the ones we have already in-game, at least a 90% match because they would have all been painted from the same pots of paint :)

Actually, I'm not sure I buy that unless there is very good documentary proof. What do we have as evidence? Not saying it's not true, just wanting something incontravertible
