Awesome, thank you. Much better than the other links.

I've already checked those templates, some of them tend to be a lot darker than the default skins (SE5, both Albatros) or more colorful (DVII). Too bad we can't have just blank templates, with no lozenge etc.

Matt, the Lozenge are a seperate layer you can turn off. Check the layers: I think you can get what you want on these templates by turning off the "default paint scheme" layer off.

Jason,

Thank you for sharing those templates. I was able to easily create a skin for all 15 aircraft in two weeks, I work and go to school, so I am thinking a total of twenty five or thirty hours maybe.

Take a look…

GunnyMac,

I just test flattened a template in Adobe Photoshop 8.0 via Menu|Layer|Flatten Image and there was no noticeable change in the panel lines for me. Would you post a before and after screenshot?

What program and version were these templates built in?

I'm using Photoshop 7.0 and its telling me.

Unknown data has been encountered reading layer "Weathering" and will be discarded. Continue?

I click yes, and get.

Some Layer sets were found corrupted and repaired.

I click OK, and then the template shows.

I can find the Weathering layer, but I'm not entirely sure its doing anything.

Are you taking your painted layer down or using 100% fill?

I think you can use it to add your own weathering. Airbrush or streak it as you wish.
It's like a blank layer as far as I can figure.

Yeah - I was thinking about this again over the weekend. I would love to see even the simple ability to substitute your own picture for that of the pilot like they had years ago in IL-2. My friends at work got a kick out of my IL-2 wallpapers showing me in the cockpit of my Sturmovik or my Bf-109 (they especially liked the one of me hanging in my parachute harness watching my plane spiral down in flames  )

I'm sure we could do even more with the actual pilot template, but we can have some fun with this in the meantime

Hello all!

Let me ask a question please- in many or at least all games where skinning is possible, the format is for photoshop. Do you guys all have the (cheapest) version of Photoshop for 700 Dollars? is there a version on the market who doesn´t require to be a millionaire

Thanks

When you say your "userviewer's new background", are you talking about the official RoF viewer they included to view skins? Have you found a way to replace the background in that viewer utility with that kind of screenshot?

[Nice mug shot and nice skin, BTW]

Yes. Make these folders if you don't have them:
C:\Program Files\Rise of Flight\data\graphics\textures\userviewer
Inside userviewer folder use your picture, (jpeg), and name it "splash" and make sure it's 2560x1600 pixels. That will be your new backdrop. S! ;)
Thanks for the comps.
I have a crap load of custom skins built up. There has been so many nice new ones out there I haven't bothered to display them. Just me I guess……

The only changes I see for the most part are this section here circled on pic.
Change your DVII skin here and use DVIIF alpha for engine cover on or off depending on you choice in alpha.

Second pic is my John Deere DVII I converted over to F by useing the apha with no engine cover and not even changeing the main skin. Just have to make new folder for skins.

Any word/hint from Neoqb as to when the official template for the D.VIIF is going to be released? We've got several D.VIIF skins being hung up trying to get into the polling process for skin approval, waiting for the release of this template.

Edit: Nevermind. I got it sorted. :P

And, what will the proper naming nomenclature be for the DVIIF folder? (i.e. fokkerd7f)?

I have a few nice "F" skins too, but haven't created the folder for them yet. I was waiting on the "official" word from the cube.

I've been makeing DVIIFs without any trouble.
Just change the engine part I highlighted above and make sure you use the alpha from the DVIIF.
Start with a skin that is from the game and make your new one useing it and save back to dds over it with your name.
Make a new folder in your graphics fokkerd7f.
Full path would be: C:\Program Files\Rise of Flight\data\graphics\skins\fokkerd7f
I have a bunch I changed over.
Decide which one you want, engine cover off or on and use the proper alpha!

Yeah - I have too. but they've closed the polls for the approved skins for the D.VIIF until they release the official template for it, so I'm still wondering when they're going to get around to doing that.
