Loads, but not under this regime. Development of ROF finished a long time ago. Nothing further will happen unless a third party get their hands on it, which seems unlikely.

Something new might appear in FC. If you want to see anything other than what we already have that's your best chance and it's a slim one.

The devs just need to put out their specs for plane models and let community modelers have a go at it.

A dream that I'm afraid will never be realized.

Alas.

My 2 cents:

- Scouts:

  Sopwith Snipe

  Siemens - Schukert DIII/IV

- Bombers/recon;

  DH-9

  Salmson

  Albatros C model

  Some Rumpler C model

There is absolutely no chance that this will happen. You would need access to the source code. That isn't happening.

<EDITED> - Cut it out knalp - you're not helping your case with such personal attacks!

If I could even bypass the plane data security features I would LEARN to mod them.

As it stands the pane data is LOCKED and only the devs can UNLOCK it.

If I could adjust the FM of only one plane I would seriously look at the N28.

( it just seems so gutless, horrible turn etc . Is this really what they were like ???)

If I could adjust the gunfire on the Se5a... I would be pleased as punch.

( little changes like this would make a world of difference to it's turn fighting ability !!!!.)

and the cruddy gunner scarf ring/turrets need an enema.

( with decent control they would be much better. ie. you can shoot around the rudder...)

Simple tweaks that would tidy up the game play. This is what we pay money for and

we should darn well get it. I don't give a toss if the devs are "busy".  They need to

pay attention to this game as well. It's not our fault they are dividing their attention!

Tidying up a whole raft of minor details will pull the whole game together, tight and well executed.

It's not that much of a big deal! The community could do it and then the dev's could integrate this

back into the live version.

and of course...

ZEPPELINS !!!! ( even an AI for kicks would be a great step forward...)

And that is never going to happen.

And they said the Titanic could never sink.

Maybe you should try and read the thread topics and add something of your own.

Rather than leeching off everyone else in your particularly negative fashion. Hmm?

And in regard to the N28, I am pretty sure the guns could do with a tweak pointing them UP a tad.

The devs have this predilection with point guns at some point in the distance that is BELOW

the gun positions. For any plane that has issues with bringing it's nose up ... this is a disadvantage

and would have been rectified by the ground crew PDQ.

I guess the small mercy is that guns that point down are good for strafing ground targets.

( which is why they fire out of the turning circle and not across it...tangents instead of chords...)

N17 GBR would be improved with this type of tweak. Considerably, actually.

It has the over top wing mounted MG pointing UP, which actually gives it a massive advantage in

a close turn fight... but the developers BORKED it.

( you can replicate the proper gun fire to a major degree by yanking the gun back in the foster mount.... )

There is a bit more to chew on!

I just added something.  You need the source code to add aircraft to this game, and they're not going to give you access to it.  Well, you might get it eventually, but someone will probably be wiping the drool off your face for you by the time that happens.

"new aircraft ideas for rise of flight."

Hint: The title of the thread. It's in there.

My suggestion was the AVRO 504 . ( and fixes for old planes....a bit off topic I admit but still within striking distance .)

What planes have you suggested? Hmmm?

1) There is absolutely no chance that this will happen. You would need access to the source code. That isn't happening.

None of those appear to be planes...

So by rights you are breaking the forum rules now.

I don't know if you actually have ever added to any thread topic constructively . Just a hunch.

My contribution to this thread is very constructive.  I'm making it quite clear that this thread is fantasy nonsense.  There aren't going to be any new aircraft added to RoF.

We need the Nieuport 10 for Russia, some early planes like 1914-15 British, French, German planes.

Maybe the Caudron G. as well.

Oh and about that whole not happening thing.

Well... Just because the developers have no intent of coming back to RoF doesn't mean that no one else can.

I'm looking at you Ugra Media.

That's something to celebrate at least!. The original ROF 3D models had a fair few glitches, from what I have seen and experienced of what Yugra have done with the models for FC is shambolic.

Guys (I'm looking at you, knalp and BSR) - please try to reduce all this negative personal sniping in this thread (and others).  We all get it - knalp wants to live in a fantasy world where the devs or others are willing/able to start making new changes to RoF to make it live up to its unfortunately unrealized potential, and BSR wants to point out that such hopes are illusory and there is no practical likelihood of that ever happening.

Both of you have valid things to say - BSR is absolutely correct in his statements, and knalp is correct that BSR's pointing out the futility of the fantasy kinda ruins the fun of wallowing in the fantasy of discussing what RoF could have been or could become if the devs would change their minds.  This same battle has been played out over multiple threads, and doesn't really serve any useful purpose at this point.  I'd be tempted to just keep locking these threads till the message gets through, but frankly things have slowed down over here on these forums so much that I'm afraid if I did that there's be nothing left but the spam and anti-spam threads.

I'd prefer not to have to silence people from posting over here, since there are so few of us left doing so, and there are still some of the old players and a few new ones who still benefit from the forums and the help thay can get from the people who do post here.  Please make an effort to disengage and handle your interpersonal issues in a more private fashion, so I won't have to take more drastic actions in that regard.

Thank you Panthercules.

I guess if we want 1914-15 planes, or another front like the Italian, Austro-Hungary, or more Russian/Eastern front planes then we’re going to have to find another game to play.

If they ever get back to this game, which probably won't ever happen a Sopwith Snipe would be awesome! the aircraft looks very neat, and is very maneuverable just the thing to take on a D.VIIF

Wouldn't that be great! With FC dead and buried under an onslaught of WWII stuff, maybe the devs could reconsider? :)

But then, there's the money thing.  :(

lol  No.  In fact, at the end RoF was barely financially viable.  They were surviving from one new plane to the next.  They are never going back to RoF.  Never.  Ever.

Look at CLoD. It's been revamped. ( with a new price tag...)

We all know the devs are reticent to do anything here. But that does not stop us from

imagining what could be done if we were able to.

Yep I'm not overly fond of the DH5 because of the constricted rearward vision. But that was a long time ago. Maybe it was my RoF seat position. Another bleedin' kite I'll have to check out. So many choices!

And I'll have to take the N28 up for a spin again. I took it up briefly recently and it seemed ok turnwise.

But I love the DH2. Like a lawnmower on steroids!  :icon_lol:

Wow that's huge! Power plant? Nitro diesel? Three phase electric? Huge cruddy DC electric?

The rounded sides of the fuselage... what model is it? Year? I quite like the flat sided ones myself
