Graphics files for Se5a ...

So yes...I am in the market for a stripped down RACING Se5a.

 

The problem is so far I am stuck trying to remove the fricking Aldis ring ...

I can't find the graphics file that has it.

 

By deleting every file I can find in the Se5a textures folder I am still at a loss as to where the actual file is that has the ring in it.

( Deleting and resaving as a .dds file obviously...)

 

Help!

 

Who ever cooked up this system for the graphics ....

It must have been a nightmare to keep under control.

Just plonking around looking at the various things involved has  

really made me wonder who was in charge...

PS Is there a wire mesh layer for the internal view of the Cockpit ??? This would be great for cutting out stuff I do not want....

It's not on the template, at least not from an internal perspective...you can nobble it externally though..

You'll have to go digging in the parts ungpt or whatever it's called goes. Can't remember the last time I went rooting around there, don't remember any wire meshes mind.

Yes it's HIDDEN in some other random file.

 

Where does the Aldis file live???

 

The wire frame for the surface triangles thingy. The layer that... thing. you know. ergh, it's what the skin gets wrapped on. Oh my god what is it called....

 

I want to lose the windscreen , foster mount, MG's and the aldis ring.

( why is there even though the Aldis is not is just bad attention to detail...)

 

You know I think between the two of us we could tweak the planes etc to a higher degree of fettle and

then get the devs to RE ENCRYPT them and we are done here.

 

I suppose they would have to test them but if we told them exactly what we have done.... hardly a big deal??

 

Aiming the Se5a guns in the right direction would be amazing. Get rid of the phoney ring and post sight.... god help us that is so daft.

Every plane that's supposed to have one doesn't...just a space where it used to be?  I didn't do anything to achieve this mind....it just disappeared...

That must be an optional file and shared across planes so it's a separate file from the plane.

 

So there must be yet another shared file someplace.

Like the Aldis sight. ( all planes that use the Aldis use this file )

 

Ah ha. the Aldis sight ring was supposed to be in the Aldis .dds file but

someone put it in a different file. ( the one with the glass parts etc )

The idea should have been that the aldis sight AND the aldis sight support ring

appear together when you select them in the hangar.

Why not call both files at the same time. Aldis sight.dds and Aldis support ring.dds

 

The weird thing is where is this other file? Why is it not in the plane folder?

Unless it's ALSO used by other planes.

Good grief, it's turtles all the way down...

 

Personally I think I would have put all the relevant files in the plane folder and be done with it.

Sure the folders may have gotten a bit bulky but not that much ?

 

Bombs and the bomb racks must be somewhere too. ???

 

The "add on" market must have been a hit back in the day.

Sorting out how it all works must have caused a few meetings and arguments.

Centralised versus decentralised resources. and the issues caused by both methods.

 

Pane A has an addon gun that is shared by others, it also needs a custom addon to fit the addon on....

But the custom addon is hidden in some other file that is not in the planes default skin folder.

 

Ugh. I give up!

 

To disappear a file you have to have an empty file adequately named.

If you can reappear the file with mods OFF then it is hidden in a mods ON mod folder.

So you could remove each mod until the files comes back...  ?

 

There is no way you could have a file missing with mods OFF as the game unpacks the .GTP

files on the fly and loads them, ignoring the mod files.

So the file causing the problem must been inside a Mod folder.

 

Unless something weird has happened. But I doubt it. Hacking? I think not.

 

To delete the internals of the Se5a cockpit I merely made a mod with the right file.

( Se5a thingy.dds ( delete all save as .dds no alpha etc ) )

loaded it and bingo you have no stuff. Looks rather odd... no Vickers no Lewis no gauges etc.

 

Why am I up at this hour???
