I have two contenders:

Lightworks  $440 in some currency...and monthly/yearly subs...

Videopad.  $112 NZD

Lightworks in the "free" version will only do "708p" BS. ( Just nope )

I used to Videopad to do my tests and it imports MKV files ( produced by MSI Afterburner )

and exports a pretty good 1920 x 1080 30fps.

So now I have to actually shell out for something. hmmm...

At this stage I am thinking I will go with Videopad. It's OK, seems to work with zero hitches.

Works with the video I feed it and so far I see no major issues....until I find that one thing that drives me batty.

But maybe there is a better cheap video editor that I am not aware of ???

Suggestions?

I have been looking at OBS Studio, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Video capture and streaming.... and it does not run on Windows 7 ..... so that's rules me out.

( I refuse to move to win 8 or 10. No nope never. Microsoft continually fail to the basics properly... ever since WinXP they have been getting dumber and dumber...)

Try shotcut it's free and pretty good, it's not gonna produce knalps porn at the quality he likes but not bad for a freebee.

I work with Videopad. Simple good design and intuitive panel with options. He has completed several projects since the beginning of the year. I'm satisfied.
