Decided to come back to RoF after five years of doing other games.

Got Steam account, but there are no content servers for "Rise of Flight Unlimited."  Anywhere, tried them all.

Currently trying to download from the mediafile link that Panthercule posted here https://riseofflight...ge-alternative/

However, it's a massive 6.7gb and so far I've tried a number of times on Firefox, and Firefox with a Download Manager and it's crapped-out after 25mb to 100mb.

Now trying with Chrome and it's going -slowly- and looking to be over 24hrs if it doesn't crap out first like it has with Firefox.

Guess I just wanted to say the advice about downloading it from Steam don't work.

What do you mean?

Try launching the game in "Mods Off" in "Game settings".

It means, when I try to download or open/play the game I get this:

Plain English - you can't download RoF from Steam.

Content Server (for RoF) was unreachable all of yesterday, and is unreachable today.

There's no game to open, or launch.  So I can't get in to Mods Off or Game Settings, as it won't let me have the game. :(

Ok I see what you mean. Open Rof files, then use the Rof updater application.

Nope, haven't got that any more.

Starting from scratch with no RoF-anything on the pc.  This is why I'm trying to download it from Steam or the mediafile.

https://riseofflight.com/download/

Have you tried the official download

EDIT:

I just downloaded RoF from Steam without issue.

Maybe your steam install of RoF is corrupt and needs be cleaned out and re downloaded

Not sure how anything my end is/was corrupt when the Steam screenshot clearly shows no servers available with RoF content.

The official RoF download link was the first I tried but it kept dropping out - that might have been a Firefox issue, as it did it both with Save and also Download-It-All on FF.

I did finally get it from the mediafire link in the Temporary Useful Materials page which, amazingly, didn't drop out once in the 14 hours it took using Chrome.

That error doesn't clearly show anything. It doesn't say the servers aren't available or that they are down.

it says you can't reach them. There could be many reasons for that. All that error says is that you aren't hitting the server.

Sort of like when you home connection goes down and the internet is not available. The internet is not broken, it's just you can't get to it.

Connection info that defines the route back to the master servers is defined in your startup.cfg, if that is not readable. Then the update servers are unreachable.

With Steam it's easy to verify your install and repair or uninstall and reload

Might be easy for those who know what they're doing...
