Aircraft Familiarisers (new index of collected links)
Back in mid-2012, a user by the name of Avimimus posted a massive collection of photographs, details and lists of as many WWI aircraft as he could find. These were scattered across many threads, but fortunately there was an index...
The problem is that there was a major re-structuring of the forums in the meantime, and that index of all the articles was completely broken because all the included URLs changed completely. Furthermore, the user databases was also altered, making it impossible to search for the posts using the user identifier (at least not for such old archived material).
Realising that the articles served as a major source of interesting material, I have attempted to "fix" the original index. The below quote is the original Avimimus' post, but with as many links as possible fixed. I could not find all of them however, and so those have been marked as "(MISSING)" (if you find them, please reply and let me know and I'll update the links).
Fortunately, I've been able to find nearly all the "Familiariser" threads, which contain a huge resource of interesting material and photographs for many aircraft - both common and obscure. It has certainly been very interesting to go through them. Thank you (albeit 6 years late!) to Avimimus for his hard work.
It is virtually finished! We've gone through the profiles of over 101 different aircraft of the Great War and discovered which of them most capture our imagination.
Please think twice about adding replies to these threads (there are a lot of them). Adding historical details is great - but if you want to share your favourites it may be easiest to just reply to this thread.
