Hello,

As the title states I am looking for a Royal Air Corp unit to fly with. I will say I am a newbie, however willing to learn.

If applicable please leave a comment, or if able please refer me to group.

Thank you for your time,

Triton

There are no active RFC squads that I'm aware of.

The Royal Air Corp!

I once went by the online nick RAC_Brigstock in RB3D, coming up to 20 years ago. The good old days :)

Back on topic, Furlow is right there are no "active" RFC units in RoF anymore, although we have seen some of the old IRFC appearing online lately.

Why not? Seriously someone needs to put one together and gather the flock of RFC boys!

Suggested Units:

8 RNAS - Pups, Tripes, Camels etc...
56 RFC/RAF - Premier SE5 Unit
46 RFC/RAF - Pups, Camels, winged victory
19 RFC/RAF SPAD, Dolphin
60
85

Many Others!

Would be nice to have another historically based ww1 squad, especially on the allied side.

I told Wrongway and Cuban they need to form a squad.  Sunday we were flying in formations of 3 plus DH4's blowing stuff up.  Took out 2 airfields in quick succession.

I've been looking to join an Entente squad that would include the SE5a but also 2-seater work as well.

Kind of pinning hopes on Flying Circus to drive more Entente squads. With timezone being an issue for me, the fairly strong BoX following in Aus/NZ/Asia may help.

The 103 is not opposed to "requisitioning" SE5a's from nearby airfields... :icon_lol:

25th Aero squadron flew SE5s right at the end of the war in the US Air Service. sometimes we fly their skins, but we still need an RAF unit. :icon_mad:

Why yes? Making "RFC" themed online squad and sticking to the theme in any seriouseness means limiting yourself to maybe half of Entente planeset. Theming a unit after some historical British squadron (which usually flew one type at time: Camel, S.E.5, Dolphin or Brisfit - pick one "your" squadron flew, ditch other three please) limits things even further.

I did some thinking about making an Entente squadron year or two ago  and concluded that only way to do this without sticking wrong roundels on most frames (or limiting yourself to maybe half of Entente frames) is Belgian theme, because they were flying anything they laid their hands on.

Jastas practice of having few frames of each type was much more helpful for future gamers.

I would say 48 squadron RFC would be a good choice since the Brisfit can pretty much do everything there is to offer in ROF.  Only problem is it is available less than 1/2 the time.  It served from April 1917 to the end of the war surely it should have more presence in multiplayer.

Hell should there be anyone that wanted to create an RNAS unit then they could probably count me in. Similar problem to Paul regarding time zones though, am in UK though work nights, and any Wednesday or Sunday evenings I get free are already reserved.

Haha, enjoy the US rations, humour and balloon guns too! Will continue to lend my SE to the 103rd. Thanks

Still be great to have an RFC/RNAS outfit though.

Initially i thought an ANZAC battalion might be an idea for this region. Kiwi and Aussie airmen flew pretty much everything, but still probably not enough players right now. However if anyone wants to try this informally for a while, do let me know.

You could do one of the Australian Flying Corps squadrons, I'd recommend 4 Squadron AFC. ;)

Of course the real reason there are no more allied squads is because of aircraft nerfs and it's not easymode Albs.... ;)

Been reading some older threads on entente squads. Looks like the situation is nothing new and the loose alliance initiative does function.

Surely Flying Circus will drive some reactivation and creation of Entente squads. As I mention in another thread i think the plane set of FC1 (as modelled now) favours Entente, and players coming from BoX could find the Spad and Se5a a more familiar experience.

I never flew MP before the 'patch' so I don't feel like any toy has been 'taken away' (Tripe excepted). Entente aircraft take more discipline but are superb in the right hands. It's hard to believe what we have is a large rage quit :)

ANZAC sq ok, Aussie sq not so much :P

This approach sounded good btw. 74sq too!

"We specialise in flying the SE5a and Sopwith Camel though we are also successful flying the other entente aircraft including two-seaters such as the Bristol Fighter and RE-8. We welcome all pilots, whether they wish to fly Scouts (Fighters), two-seaters or heavy bombers, and excel at teaching new and aspiring pilots the fundamental techniques required to become high-scoring and competetive members of the RAF74 Squadron."

Hi all,

No 56 Sqn (http://56sqn.com), a WWI virtual squadron created in 2016, has been re-activated and is recruiting pilots. As one of the very few British squadrons in RoF, I hope our little group will grown to challenge some of the formidable Jastas currently dominating the virtual skies. I'm a newbie pilot myself but have been flying combat flight sims on and off since 2012 (and was an active member of a virtual squadron in Aces High).

Our focus as a squadron will be on fun, camaraderie, respect, realism, and skill. The Squad Night is currently on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. (U.S. Central Time). If you are interested in joining or just finding out more, visit our website or PM me.
