So...

...what kind of WW1 aerial fighting was there in the Pacific?

;)

Japan Bought/Used some SPADs I think. Probably against German possessions in the Pacific. Don't know if they had any aerial battles though.

Optimist: RoF to BoX engine

Pessimist: BoX release dates

Realist: Loot BoXes

(I kid, I kid - but probably no RoF news either way)

I always thought that the MP awards were very cool and a far better idea than stats tables.

Cheers.

Since I changed in game names I hope I can earn the SPAD master badge again.  Never got any letters or Lugers though under my old name :icon_e_sad: .

Just to stir the pot.....

My buddy the flyer formally known as US103_Hall is calling it as two planes (SPAD13 and DVIIf) being ported to the BoX engine possibly with a map as well.

We shall see....

Sounds like fun all us SPAD guys hiding at high altitude only to find DVIIF's higher which forces us to dive away, land, and exit the server :icon_boring:.  Need more than those two planes to create a more dynamic environment.  But it would be a good start especially if the SPAD XIII has a high compression 220hp 8Be engine like a proper 1918 SPAD.

Attention Pilots!

On November 17th, 2017 at 12:00 GMT the Sturmovik Team will reveal it's plans for the future in the Sturmovik Forum. Please join us.

salute.gif

Jason

Well - he called it "the Sturmovik Team", not the ROF Team and it's being announced in the Sturmovik Forum, not here.  That said, why bother announcing anything here if it's not ROF related somehow and Jason hasn't exactly been active on this forum for awhile now.   So I think US103_Hall is probably making a good guess that a couple of ROF planes are being ported to the BOX engine.  It would be a good way to test what kind of interest (cash) they can still generate in WWI using a much newer and improved engine without committing to a full port or ROF 2.0.   Here's hoping.

Flying Circus – Volume I

Flying Circus will finally give our loyal and patient Rise of Flight customers a new way forward into the future! Our eventual goal is to essentially re-build ROF inside of the Sturmovik universe and give WWI all the latest technology like VR, 64bit, DX11 and improved visuals. We will start by focusing on re-furbishing ten of our existing WWI airplanes and providing a partial map of France to fly and fight over. Subsequent Flying Circus products will further expand content and we’ll work to integrate Flying Circus into our Campaign and Career systems over time. Volume I is merely the first important step and it will be a lot of fun! If Flying Circus proves popular we can eventually fire up the Great War assembly line and break out the canvas and timber once again to make some new crates! Guynmere, Fonck, Coppens, McCudden, Bishop, Rickenbacker and von Richtofen shall fly again 100 years later!

FlyingCircus_Artwork_SPAD_EN.jpg

Planned to be Included in Flying Circus – Volume I

Flyable Aircraft and Content (Tentative List):
- SPAD 13 C.1
- Sopwith Dolphin
- Sopwith Camel
- RAF S.E.5a
- Bristol Fighter
- Albatros D.Va
- Fokker Dr.1
- Fokker DVII
- Pfalz D.IIIa
- Halberstadt CL.II
- France map (100 x 100km Approx.)
- Several airfields, cities, towns and villages. Summer textures are planned
- No Man’s Land
- Entente and Central Powers Ground Units and Scenery.

Pre-Orders for Flying Circus will be available sometime first half of 2018

That's really not a bad planeset either, it certainly is the most popular one.

I wonder how they will tackle rebuilding the flight and damage models. I'm excited either way, the Captain and I will get to get to fire up the old girl again.

It's Iron Cross edition with N.28 replaced with Dolphin, and couple of two-seaters :). The time-proved RoF starter set.

And it will give us another chance to see D.VII done right (fingers crossed for overcompressed engine!), D.Va done right and Camel done right  :icon_lol: .

... somebody wake gavagai  :icon_mad: .

I'm wondering about the DVii also..

If it's like the current one, that'll be Se5 and Spad vs no DXII and no Viif.

Germs lacking a bit of speed !

What I can't stop thinking about is how much better Circus can look in the updated engine and with the modern computer/software bells and whistles and all that and that really gets me pumped! :D Now maybe I can get some personal skins in the game as well at some point after launch.

We still have to wait another 6 months minimum. But good to know ROF lives on. I have BOS for years and only fly it occasionally when numbers on MP ROF are zero, but somehow the fast birds out of WW2 don't interest me as much as WW1.

Man, did they fool us lol

Intriguing -- I guess I was right in the ballpark with my speculation on RoF being ported to the BoS engine.   ;)

Realistically, while that's still probably a couple years out (there are two other BoX titles ahead of it), it's still definitely interesting news for the WWI community.

Cheers,

I had zero expectations and this completely caught me unawares!

I've been purchasing the various BoX titles in hopes the continuing support of 1C would result in a new WWI title. I play the WWII stuff from time to time, but RoF truly made me fall in love with the biplanes of the Great War.

I'm really excited about seeing our beloved crates brought forward into the Digital Warfare Engine.

Let the flight model bickering commence!!
