Am I correct in assuming these JSGME mods ( other 3rd party mods for that matter,) will me placed in the "MODs" folder in the game's main directory? For some reason or another I found the "MODs" folder in the "DATA" sub folder & promptly moved it. Hope this was the right move.

Yes, your MODS folder should be in the main RoF folder, not in the data folder.

Make sure your JSGME config file is also pointing to the mods folder.

The mods folder can be anywhere as long as JSGME can find it.

Also the mods folder is just something for JSGME, mostly you can add mods directly to the game using the mods on "switch" to activate them when you play.

If you want to use JSGME to install mods make sure you down the "JSGME ready" packs.

Panther does this a lot and posts links.

Bonjour Arvigna,

I think that some of the mods in JSGME do work in «MOD» off...

But can't say what mods exactly.

Cheers,

Gen ;)

Not necessarily.  JSGME doesn't know or care whether the "mod" files it activates are considered to be "mods" by RoF.  JSGME is just an easy way of adding files to (and removing them from) your game installation in a controlled fashion and making it easy for you to keep up with what you're doing with mods.  RoF, on the other hand, has its own internal mods on/mods off mechanism that determines whether it will or won't recognize certain files in your RoF installation.

Thus, for example, you can (and I always do) choose to use JSGME to install various skin packs - but since the skins in these packs are approved by the devs for use in the game, they will work when you have "mods off" in RoF whether you install them via JSGME or by manually putting them in your RoF installation without using JSGME.  On the other hand, most mods (that alter various game-related functions like tracers, rates of fire, damage sensitivity of wings, AI pilot behaviors, etc.) will only work if you run RoF in "mods on" mode, again regardless of whether you used JSGME to activate them or just copied them manually into your RoF installation.

Bottom line - whether a "mod" will work in "mods off" or only in "mods on" mode in RoF is dependent on the nature of the mod itself, and has nothing to do with whether JSGME was used to install it or not.

If I wrote something in this forum that is hurting or abuse a member, organisation or country? Let me know by pm for the corrections, please do not react back by bashing/trolling/flaming or other personal attacks!

Yep I’m an 2009 Rof pre-order buyer and one of the few that did buy the Sikorsky game.

Interesting, but after skipping around and reading first/last pages etc. (didn't have time to read all 35 pages of thread) I'm still not sure what the benefits of OvGME would be compared to JSGME or what problems/shortcomings of JSGME he's trying to fix by creating OvGME, and I didn't want to D/L and install the thing just to read the embedded help file that might explain some of that.

Maybe I'll give it a closer look when it gets more stable and the bugs get worked out - in the meantime, do you happen to have any info to shed light on the questions above?
