After returning to 1990's "Red Baron" game, I was able to finish the British/French career for it. For most of it I flew SPAD 13 as soon as I got it, and I was able to customize it.

These three pictures attached show more or less how that Custom SPAD 13 might look like (minus the note on the upper wing).

As for the "Ace Killer" mark... That was because during that career I actually killed 5 German Aces, and witness the death of the 6th one.

Given that this was made with little Photoshop experience, and a lot of frustration, it looks pretty decent, I think.

What You would say?

Not a bad looking overall scheme.  Hard to tell from the screenshots, but there are a couple of things that look a bit weird to me.  First, it looks like probably your alpha channel is messed up - often happens that it doesn't save properly if you're using something other than PhotoShop or if your settings for the .dds save routine aren't set right.  (There's a picture of what the right .dds save settings are for actually saving the skin files (as opposed to the preview pictures) in that recent thread about converting the .jpg preview files to .dds files).

Second, there's some sort of splotchy-looking weirdness along the sides of the fuselage - may just be the poor lighting or something, but a better/bigger screenshot might help.  Or, if you like, you can upload your skin file somewhere (e.g., Mediafire) and send me a link to it, and I can take a look and see if I can spot any issues worth mentioning.

Cheers,

Panther

And could it be that converting png file to dds via paint.net did something the inexperienced one couldn't notice?

Quite possible - I've always used PhotoShop for my skinning activities, and I've never used .png files as part of the process, and I've never used paint.net for anything, so I don't know what might have gone wrong in that process.  I've seen people posting about using GIMP instead of PhotoShop, but I don't even remember seeing threads about using paint.net or .png files, so I can't even point you to any old threads about it.  Only thing I can suggest is that you either get GIMP (still free, as far as I know) and try using that (there's a good tutorial/guide to using GIMP for RoF skinning linked to in this thread:  http://riseofflight....-related-info/  ) - otherwise, maybe post an explanation of the process you used with paint.net and maybe someone around here that's familiar with paint.net and RoF skins might be able to spot what's going wrong.

Alternately, if you want to upload your .dds skin file and post or PM me a link to it I'll be happy to take a look and see if I can see and maybe fix any problems.

Moved to main skins section - if it ever gels into a poll/submission candidate, I'll be happy to move it back here.  If you still want help with your skin file, if you can upload your .dds file (or better yet, your .psd file) to MediaFire or somewhere like that and post a link I'll be happy to see if I can help.

We'll see about that in the future, Right now I have... shall we say... other things to think about.
