Im asking developers for making improvement in planes visiblility in ROF. Actually there is realy unrealistic way to spot planes. When you want to see planes from distance 2-3 km you need to make some FOV zoom beacuse with Wide ZOOM ( MAX FOV) at these distance planes are not visible until you make some zoom - these is totaly unrealistic. Planes should be visible no metter of zoom.

Another thing is that in game there is no DOT at all ( DOT - is small point represeting plane at longer distance). Planes in ROF dissapper in longer distance above 3 km. These is totaly unrealistic. Plane in real life could be spotted at much more longer distance - at least 6kms.
I really wonder why these is not representing like in old IL2 game where you could see plane/dot from at even 10 kms.

From longer distance there should be visible DOT then when distance beacame more close >3KM DOT should change for plane.

Actually in ROF plane visiblilty is totaly porked and not realistic. These really spoil realism and immersion in these game.

I really think these issue should be fixed by developers.

Why it could be done like in other simulators?

make the zoom buttons that are in place already just zoom the view and allow for panning still.

I'm for a simple dot. Let's add another 1km of visibility or so, don't exaggerate it.
It would be cool to actually surprise someone from the sun, so there should be a trade-off.

Also, please make the Flak bursts visible from longer range. This was often how the pilots would find enemy aircraft in the first place!

+1 for 'dumb dots' that increase visibility a few kilometers as described above.

+2 for 'smart dots' that increase visibility based on whether opponent is above or below (highlighted against sky should be easier), or current weather conditions (no dots in heavy rain), and can be obscured by clouds.

maybe the dots could have a transparency that increases with range until they fade out basically.

+ 10… Actually noway to surprise in the sun or clouds. At least for SP. MP is out of my connection to try it

+10 for either of these ideas!

How much more points do we need for them to implement this? Because then I will just say +999999 and that will save everyone a lot of posting. ;)

I think it's not the nuber of points, but the number of pointERS that might help this cause…or both! Keep posting! ;)

I think instead of adding "+1" each time, people should have to name a different invertebrate. Can't think of one? Better hit up wikipedia and find one otherwise we won't be able to count you in as "wanting the feature"!

Ok then stethnorun.
I'm in for the easy one : Octopus wants enhanced spotting of planes. ;)

An additional suggestion for when dots are going to be used for aircraft beyond the "pixel-range" of the display.
Yesterday I was flying a mission where I was escorting German two-seaters over the trenches. Flying above them, it was difficult to follow them, because their camouflage makes it hard to spot against the terrain below. Then they changed direction and turned. The sun reflected on the wings and suddenly they were very easy to spot.

Wouldn't it be great if the dots would work the same way? I think the dot should fade with distance, but when the aircraft banks in the sun, the dot should momentarily bright up. I think it can be done if they use a very simple "rectangle" 3d model with shiny material to calculate the dot brightness…

Remember rule 12 of Mick Mannock:

"If the day is sunny, machines should be turned with as little bank as possible, otherwise the sun glistening on the wings will give away their presence at a long range."

And just to be a worm, I would like to add that plane spotting is not just seeing a dot in the distance. In the game there is constant Anti Aircraft fire at empty sky. The sky is full of black dots. Get rid of it so that they only fire at planes. When you see flack bursts you know there is some activity in that area.

Just a thought.

don't add dot's! I would love to see glints or reflections off planes from a distance. looking for sunlight glinting off a plane from a distance would fix all that!
