G'day,

For those interested in flying as a squad and your own squadron is not as active numbers wise I would like to propose a loose alliance of pilots for New Wings War Grounds.

The aim would be to fly together as both escorted bombers and hunting packs this would also help stop the pack hunters hitting the lone flying easy mark! You can remain in your own squadron but are welcome to fly as a part of an organised group. It is not going to be restricted to either Entente or Central and we can fly as required and will probably even fly against each other at times. So if you want some company on New Wings Team Speak server 70.42.74.44 then please come and join us.

Regards Shot

DH.5 learner pilot with training wheels attached.

Sounds cool, but to tell you the truth ( this is just me), I think there's enough central squads already but I do see what your saying, It's great flying with you guys, and any one interested I_Got_Shot is a great leader to learn from so take the advantage when you can, would be nice to see some of you splinter in to more squads. GT,s are always looking for pilots.

It's about time for Entente half to merge a bit without people giving up their squadron tags. There are to many squadrons with only 2-3 people still flying and NW TS is good place to go when your mates are not around (or to go with other two guys to take part in larger flight). I do that sometimes when my (very much German and active) squadron is not present, too.

Having around a group interested in other things than free hunt is good news, too!

I'm pining this thread.

Always a good time, with good guys and good pilots.  Having a good mix of "squadron" flying and leadership without being overly organized and rigid is probably the best way to go.  Great place to learn as well as improve skills and even go on the occasional suicide mission :)

Would be nice to have some people to fly with.

Did jump on to one of the servers this night. But not much fun though.

Were attacked right away by to friendly aircrafts (I was flying a two-seater). Of course shot down pretty fast. Well not my idea of fun!

Might try another night :-/

Yeah, well. It was on one of those servers I flew last night. The only one with people in.
Flying the Roland C2 armed with bombs, I wanted to use the protection from the airfields AA while I gained altitude.

Then I was to my surprise attacked first by a Fokker Dr.I and shortly after an Albatros. Neither my rear-gunner reacted nor the AA, so it had to be friendly aircraft's. As they were also German planes.

Things like this p*** my off, and it also sent a bad signal to people.

I read it like this. Okay, that is not the place to fly online!

But then, where? As the rest of the servers were empty :(.

Any way, with all this said.

I usually can fly online on Fridays at approx from 2030Z.

Wargrounds is the best place to fly at the moment.  Stuff like that does not happen often.

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.  If it's any consolation, like you, the two other pilots involved were also in Wargrounds for their first time (on 12/04), so it's quite likely they didn't recognize your plane as friendly.

That's not to condone their actions by any means, but with brand new pilots, no icons, and expert level settings, this situation can (and does) occur more than we'd like. We do note these incidents very carefully, and we can (and do) ban individuals who show a continued disregard for firing on friendlies.

As BSR mentions, Wargrounds is one of the best, and busiest, servers for RoF, and while those types of situations do occur, we at New Wings, are pretty pro-active about policing that sort of activity, and actioning players who abuse the server rules.

Once again, I'm sorry that turned out to be your first experience on Wargrounds, and I hope it won't deter you from hopping back in and flying there in the future.

Regards,

:icon_e_salute:

S! FourSpeed.

Thank you for an honest explanation. I can see from your reply, that you have looked into the incident.

It's good to hear that it is not a common thing that has happen. Will for sure visit the server again.

I don't believe it was a mistake, as they were so close that they easily could see I was a German aircraft.

That is also why when flying expert level settings, the sides has to be divided into Entente vs Central powers, which I believe it was on that server.

Cheers

It is true, but some new players just come to try the new game, go to most populated server and fire on first thing they see, deathmatch-style.

There are also people who purposefully join two-seaters gunner position only to blow out wings of plane they fly and leave (make sure to lock gunners position :( ).

Loke, if you find the time join wargrounds server on a saturday evening around 19-20.00 hours european time. Yesterday i had a blast with 50+ pilots online in this server. Joined some on Teamspeak and really had a good time allthough we had 1 idiot coming in and shooting of wings from a 2 seater.

But as fourspeed said, they take notes and if he keeps on doing this he will be banned.....simple as that.

Ofcourse collisions and other things happen with so many people on board.....say sorry and carry on :icon_e_salute:

hope to see you online sometime

Marc

S! Marx.

Do not expect to see me on Saturday evenings. They are usually dedicated for family time.

And yes, I hope also to meet some of you chaps online :icon_e_smile:.
Flown online sims since 2000, first in the M$ CFS series, then Il-2 Series, after a break due to loss of PC then Il-2 BoS/M and now RoF.

Collisions happened in real world, and will happen in a sim. That's life!

If I wrote something in this forum that is hurting or abuse a member, organisation or country? Let me know by pm for the corrections, please do not react back by bashing/trolling/flaming or other personal attacks!

Yep I’m an 2009 Rof pre-order buyer and one of the few that did buy the Sikorsky game.

Why is this dead topic still pinned?

Because some of these guys are still around and NW TS is still closest thing to "public flight for everyone" for no-icons Entente pilots. There isn't recent discussion, but invitation posted here is still revelant.
