I hear people said Rise of Flight's lets you choose whenever you want to be far away or dropped directly into the action in career mode, and I can't find that option.

I like to play flight sim with dynamic campaign, but not have time to fly around in long flight.Red Baron DOS let me go into combat quick and fun but it is really old game now so I move to this game.hope they will have this feature

and please don't tell me go to play quick mission or something like il-2 guy do,it is not dynamic like career.you alway know what coming to get you because you have to setting game before start and it that not excite at all.also I like collect score in career and love to see how far I can kill before im K.I.A. in career mode like Red Baron. They may have been talking about PWCG, which I think allows you to set some parameters for air starts and stuff for PWCG-generated missions that might let you accomplish or approximate what you're looking for.  I'm not sure if maybe the early career mode (several years ago) may have had such a setting to let you choose how far away from the front or the action you wanted to start (can't remember - sounds a little familiar), but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way now.

Maybe Luke can shed some light on this as far as career mode goes - I always want to start on my airfield so I haven't used or looked for such a feature/setting for several years now, so it could be there somewhere and I might just not realize it.

Old feature dropped with the old campaign mode years ago.

I don't know if this will be fast enough for you but what I do is fly out the line on 16X time compression, do the mission, then when I get back across the line, over safe country I end the flight.  I also wish there was an air drop or 32X speed but at least this cuts most of the dead time out.  (I'd pay $ for it.)  Maybe we should just find more time in real life to play ROF…  hahaha

Use autopilot and time acceleration option if your PC can handle it. Dangerous if you fly icons-off.

But it would be nice, for me at least, if we had an air drop or warp or something in career.  That's probably my personal number one request - even more than new airplanes.  As I wrote above, I already use 16X compression but I just don't get 1/4 the ROF time I'd like because of RL.  I love career mode and if I had more time, I'd fly without time compression at all.  As it stands, if I don't move through missions a little faster it'll be one career per 6 months and I'll be 102 before I try every one I hope to.  C'est la vie.

i bought it on steam and i don't like dull arcade missions that you play same mission with same enemy and same position over and over again.

you sound like il-2 fanboi who have no life no job and have free time to fly all day or some rich guy who don't have to spend time on work much who insult me when i talk about the flight is too long u know? annoying people  who think if you don't have time go play arcade flight cod boom boom for kid.don't know if you ever play Red Baron 1 that let you start near combat zone or aces over europe that let you instant skip time? this feature work perfect fine in sim flight those days.or you too young too know that game?

if this game not have this feature that fine because im paid for support great flight sim,im just wonder what if people said this game can skip take off is true so I can save time.if not im just back to Red Baron anyway,my laptop not powerful much so even use 16X compression it take over 40 min per flight on my Fokker DR.1.im also not interesting in arcade flight, even warthunder is not my taste because stupid nerf and no career mode.

I´m impressed by your criticism, sounds you have a lot of time to flame.   I only wanting to help dear Princess.  :icon_e_biggrin:

But as been written down get PW-CG and select airstart and adjust mission length.  Check the forum search function, because this has been discussed couple of time ago.

So friends again  :)

PrincessHinghoi, bear in mind that there is no "action area" in career - you go on you patrol, enemy flights go on theirs, whether you meet or not is matter of luck, positioning and noticing the enemies are there. Historically, most of combat flights were uneventful patrols.

If fishing for contacts is not your game, turn icons on in game settings, including "far icons on the map" option, to get idea where enemy planes are. Use autopilot to fly plane along the course, or climb to desired altitude (2000-2500 meters), point plane in direction you want to go, and use shift+a to have plane fly straight and level. Now you can use time acceleration ([ and ] keys) to skip flight towards the front, and use "map radar" icons to quickly find yourself targets (without map radar, at 16x time acceleration enemy planes will kill you before you notice them).

Also, when starting the career, choose a squadron that is close to the front to get there even faster. For instance, if you fly Fokker Dr.I, Jasta 7 career in spring 1918 will place you on the field very close to the trenches. What planes are you flying in career at the moment?

@Princess, Was forgotten about this tool; but if willing to invest some time into RoF, maybe this campaign generator, suits you better. If I well can remember this is only direct in to action, airstart and no long [de]briefing.   It is a more a less compact PW-CG, with a very simple menu.

One feature I would love to have added as a difficulty option would be a Time Compression halt near enemy contacts, that would then easily function as a 'skip to action' mode. You can do it now but you just have to be quick on the pause button when your plane starts manouvering by itself :D
