Here are the files for a few different versions I made including an upgrade for my old Bleriot XI skin, just extract this folder into your RoF/data/graphics/FokkerE3 folder in your skins folder, if there isn't a Fokker E3 folder make one and name it exactly "FokkerE3" (caps sensitive). I'll add the PSD files as well in case you want to use these as a template to make your own.

DOWNLOAD SKINS: https://www.mediafir...hgud463e51412r6

PSD Template Download: https://www.mediafir...5mx4455z8fsbdoz

I added two versions to the template, one with "short turnbuckles" (fuselage is halfway covered by fabric) and "long turnbuckles" (fuselage is mostly open). If you want to use the short, leave the PSD file as is and delete alpha channel 2. If you want the long, make the long turnbuckles and the long background layer visible and delete alpha channel No.1 and rename alpha 2 Alpha 1.

I was playing around a bit with my Bleriot skin and decided to turn it into a combat plane. Here it is reworked a bit to look somewhat like a Morane Saulnier.

I'll probably throw it up for download when it's finished.

Looks great, I'm looking forward to fly it . Would you consider making a "captured" variant skin with crosses instead of roundels, so it could be used on icons-off servers? The game will still believe it to be Central plane, so Entente skin will be of limited use in MP. I know it's like fetching water back to the well and to point was to bring it back to the French roots...

EDIT: Please don't take it as criticism, it's the opposite. I really like what I see and would like to fly it, but as soon as I think how to use it in MP the alarm "people will bitch about roundels if I use it, and they'll be right" goes off. Of course, you have your reasons to make this one and making a skin for MP does not have to be your goal... but what a skin would it make!

Liberator said "let there be turnbuckles!" and there were turnbuckles.

I've been wanting to add hooks & turnbuckles to that for a long time, but couldn't think of an effective way of doing it, until to-day. :icon_e_biggrin:

PS. there's always the standard E.III skin, unless you specifically want an E.III with an open empennage.

Really good work , but I do say this with respect of your work.

Drop the open frame work, reshape the rudder and landing gear and you will have something real close to the Morane Saulnier type H.

P.S. If you can add turnbuckles the rudder and landing gear can be reshaped.

Truly fabulous work!

Only one positive critique, would be even more lovely with some realistic weathering.  At the mo, it looks very fresh and that cleanliness catches the eye a little too much.

Aren't there weathering layers already in the templates than can be bumped up?  Or do they get nixed by your skin edits/work?

Unfortunately within limits, alpha-channel trimming may not be a magic pill here.

Since the EIII has a rounded rudder it's hard to tell, but squaring the rudder 'profile' and other edges may make it too small, but agree, it might be worth a try.

The EIII undercarriage is not the same straight axle design, but perhaps just editing out the horizontal undercarriage parts that lead backwards would be a bit closer to the real thing.

Some nice images off net, though the a/c are reconstructions, they demonstrate a variety of undercarriage design, none with the EIII horizontal parts leading back...

There are weathering channels, I turned all but one off as I like a nice clean aircraft. I can do a bit of weathering though if you guys want dirtier aircraft.

As for the Tail & landing gear, the reason I don't do edits like that is because it will leave a hole in the model, say... If I edit the tail, there won't be a front and back anymore because there's no texture inside the tail so you will see two parallel lines (both sides of the tail) if you look at it from the front, back, top, or bottom. I'm not really sure how to explain it without pictures. And I can't rearrange spars & landing gear with the alpha channel.

Yes, that is the problem, but at some angle, I found it is ok. ;)

Same way I did - by very carefully paying attention to how much you trim off, you can get a reasonably squared off result with the Alby's rudder.  But, if you go just a bit too far with the Alby, you get the same sort of hollow look you see with the E3 above.

I think this same discussion took place when I made my original Bleriot.

I like making good, quality skins. That includes not having obvious graphical deformities in them. I believe that's how the discussion ended in the last thread as well.

If you want to change the shape of the tail, the PSD file is up there for download. I encourage anybody who wants to, to try it out... I may not like holes, but it is a good first start for any new (or newer) skinners to learn a bit about the Alpha channel and how it works.

The Russian one wasn't made by me :icon_e_smile:

I'm working on getting those weathered ones done alongside my next tutorial, shouldn't be too much longer.

Couple of thoughts:

1.  Exactly what folder did you place the file(s) in?

2.  Do you have "modifications on" ticked in your launcher?  If you have mods off, you won't be able to see the skins in game.
