Given that many of the links to mods scattered throughout the Forums got broken during the transition to the new Forum platform and it may take a while for people to realize that and get their links updated in all the various posts, I thought I would go ahead and post here some working links to my copies of my favorite mods.  At least, I'm starting with my favorite ones because those are the ones that I happen to have working links for.  I may add more to this post as time goes by.  BTW, the RoFMods web site had some links to some other mods but that site is no longer working (at least for now).

While this is WIP the Mods may be listed in no particular order - I'll probably re-arrange the organization of them once I get some of the links posted, so bear with me.  Despite the presence of older version numbers in some of the names, I've tested most if not all these with 1.037 and they seem to be working.  Let me know if you detect any problems.

All these Mods are JSGME-ready - you can just unzip them into your MODS folder and activate them with JSGME.

Hello. Thanks for the go to area for the mods. As a question I have the rate of fire mods, both,; when I go to activate them through CSME I get a message something to the effect that this has been covered in the Verdun Fort mod and if I install the rate of fire mod that it could affect it. Should I just ignore this message and go ahead and install the rate of fire mod? That being said should I ignore these type of warnings and install the Mods anyway when I have them in CMSE in the future? I guess there is no specific order to activate the the Mods either when you down load them and have them in the CMSE? Thanks Deej

Look carefully at the warning message from JSGME - if it's only saying that some folder(s) has already been added by a previous mod, then you can/should safely ignore that message and activate the subsequent mod - there will be no conflict or problem.

OTOH, if the message says that some specific file(s) has already been modified by a previously-installed mod, then you need to pause and think about things a bit.  In that case, if you install the second mod it will over-write the specified file(s) mentioned in the message - that may not be a huge problem or mean that you shouldn't install the second mod, but it will mean that you will lose whatever effect/feature the first mod was providing by virtue of the changes that first mod made to that specific file(s).  If that particular file(s) was just a small part of the first mod, and you like what the second mod is doing with that file better anyway, then you might as well go ahead and activate the second mod despite that warning message.  (For example, maybe you installed one of the cloud-related mods that also happened to modify a sun-related file, and then you wanted to install a lens-flare-removal mod that also modified that same sun-related file - you might easily decide that the sun-related aspects of the cloud mod were pretty minor and that you liked the sun effect of the lens-flare-removal mod better, so it's not a problem for you that activating the second mod will eliminate the sun-related element of the first mod).

If you're comfortable enough with peeking under the covers and seeing what the mods are actually doing, and you want to try to preserve the benefits of both mods, you can try creating your own version of the file(s) mentioned in the warning message to merge the changes from each mod into a new composite version (it's quite possible that each mod is actually changing a different portion of the same file, and thus both sets of changes from both mods can peacefully coexist in a new composite version of the modded file that you can create).

If you aren't comfortable trying to do that or just don't want to go to that trouble, you can just do some trial and error - activate one mod first and the other one second, and see how you like it that way, then activate them in the reverse order and see if you like that way better.  Fortunately, JSGME makes it very easy to activate and deactivate mods in any order you want to, so it's easy to do these sorts of comparisons so you can assess the impact of letting any one mod over-write the corresponding files of another mod.

Thanks Panthercules for the insightful information. I have about 29 mods in the JSME, which the majority are yours. I have 16 of them activated. The other 13 I didn't activate due the the warning message I indicated in my first e-mail. I'll double check and see if the message I get prior to installing the Mod is one of a file changing nature or one where it was added by a previous installed mod. I'm Not afraid to tinker abit so in time I'll see if I can get a good mix from different mods to blend together in good harmony. I'm assuming doesn't matter what order the mods are installed to get the best results for the game? Thanks again for taking the time to explain this. Appreciate it very much. Cheers!!

The order only matters if the mods have conflicting files as noted in the JSGME warning messages, as then the later-installed ones will over-write the earlier ones as I explained above.  Otherwise, order of activation doesn't matter.

All these Mods are JSGME-ready - you can just unzip them into your MODS folder and activate them with JSGME.

First off, thank you for this!  Secondly, do you have a recommended "official" or "safe" download for the JSGME executable itself?  The rofmods.com site is not working for me, and a quick forum check leads me to believe it has possibly been offline since last Summer:  https://riseofflight...now-open/page-4

Edit:  The J5 folks running Bloody April pointed me to your JSGME location, thanks!:  https://riseofflight...official-links/

I didn't realize you were talking about the link in my first post above (which I have now deleted) - I thought you were talking about the link in the original RofMods thread, which I have modified to make clear that the site is not working at this point.

I take it JSGM is a mod installing/uninstalling tool. Is it recommended to only install these mods via this tool? I'm interested in the AI mod at the moment, does anyone have any experience with it? (d_ted's comment above is noted!)

Yes - JSGME is a mod enabler par excellence.  It's been around for years, and even though there doesn't seem to have been any updated version for quite a while that may just be because there was nothing needing improvement.  I definitely recommend using it and never installing mods without it.

I just checked and I'm not currently running the AI pilot mod (I was using it a few game versions ago - not sure why I stopped using it, as it doesn't appear to conflict with any of the other mods I have installed.  Perhaps some subsequent game update caused problems with it or made it less desirable/necessary, but unfortunately I didn't make any notes about it when I deactivated it so I'm not sure what the story is with it at this point.)

What is a safe site for downloading JSGME? I've tried various sites, but I'd have to sign up or there was no download link available.

Also, I have some skin mods installed already, should I do a fresh re-install of RoF before I start using JSGME for any further mods?

Use this one from https://riseofflight...official-links/
If this not working get this one at: http://www.thatonepl.../toolsWOFF.html

You do not have to reinstall RoF and yep, it can be used for future mods.

Cheers Panthercules,

is it possible to combine AnKor85's Terrain Bumpmapping and Fubar's Landscape Mod for 1.037?

Do I need to install all these mods above in a special sequence?

Cheers Panthercules,

Do I need to install all these mods above in a special sequence?

I don't happen to be running those two together ATM, so I'm not sure if they could be combined.  JSGME does report that Fubar's mod changes several of the same files that AnKor85's mod changes, so if you activate them both together whichever one you activate second will override those portions of the one you activated first.  That may not be a problem, and you may just want to try both combinations (Ankor85's first, or Fubar's first) and see which one you like best (if any).

I'm running AnKor85's but not Fubar's ATM - I was getting better results (for my personal tastes) with the combination of Ankor85's mod, a tweaked version of Feathered's ground noise mod and a cloud mod by Happyhaddock, all of which messed with a lot of the same files that Fubar's mod did.

Both together looks fine, the clouds maybe too "painted".
I'll try out the other combinations.
Ground noise does what especially?

Ground noise does what especially?

It was explained in some of the old threads, but it's been so long since I messed with tweaking those mods that I've forgotten the technical details/explanation as to what it actually does.  Basically though, it seems to help bring out some details in the landscape and also perhaps do something about some of the shimmering (or moiré effect) that some of the textures might be prone to.

To be honest though, I've found my experience with these landscape mods to be sort of like my experience with SweetFx/Reshade - I do a lot of experimentation trying to get just the right combination, thinking things are looking pretty good, only to decide after a while that stock RoF looks pretty good after all.

Thank you for all this Panthercules!
Btw, do you know where that "old look" map is? It was part of a "ultimate mod pack 3.0" for some years ago.
I really love that dirty old looking map. It had 4 seasons too I believe.

I'm not familiar with that particular map offhand, but I'll try to remember to poke around in my old files and see if anything turns up, next time I'm back with my RoF PC (could be a few weeks though :(  )
