Now that we have the Ilya… it seems fitting that the Russians should have a tank as well…

Image

Powered by 250hp Sunbeam aircraft engines… and with three turrets.

It could easily be added as a static or moving object.

…all that it would take is a 3d modeller putting in a lot of work and there could be armada's of these rolling toward the trenches… :o

Given its history, I think that a static object would be all that's needed. ;)

The huge wheels were intended to cross significant obstacles. However, due to miscalculations of the weight, the back wheel was prone to getting stuck in soft ground and ditches, and the front wheels were sometimes insufficient to pull it out. This led to a fiasco of tests before the high commission in August 1915. The tank remained in the location where it was tested, some 60 kilometres from Moscow until 1923 when it was finally taken apart for scrap.

If you read the original post carefully - you'll see, I anticipated that… :D :D :D

On an aside - with the turret 8 metres off the ground and main deck 5 metres off ground - the terrain would still look pretty good (compared to the view from most tanks). So a drivable static object might be possible… although that is getting a little silly.

Still though, it'd be a pretty static object, wouldn't it?

:D "Still though, it'd be a pretty static object, wouldn't it?" Yes they could be stuck all over the mud. :D

I wouldn't call that pretty. Reminds me of a spider weaving a net. Are there any armoured cars in RoF? If not tanks, then at least those were used in the east, if I remember right.

Well, to be fair, they only made one, I think.
The Germans only made something like 20 - 30 tanks during WW1, but you'll see a German A7V in so many WW1 games…..

Of course, if it had worked a bit better (larger rear wheels and/or more power) they'd have made quite a few. I view it as an "Ilya Murometz of the ground"
