While the sun is modelled fairly well (with regard to brightness) in RoF, we should be able to (as can be done in IL2 for instance) hold our thumb up to the sun to block the glare, as the RL pilots did … if I do this in RoF, the entire screen still retains the glare.
Hopefully this is will be possible in a future patch.

Um…like a virtual thumb in game? Or like your actual thumb. Because the latter wouldn't be possible from a purely physics aspect. IL-2 must not have the same glare effects that modern games have (with bloom and all).

LOL, I could just see it, a hot key to have a thumb come up and cover the sun. The only problem then would be trying to see what you are shooting at with that thumb in the way.
