Yeah, believe it or not, Syndicate did not start out as an entente only squadron. In fact, one of the things that drew me to join was the opportunity to fly for both sides. Ah the good ole days.

Vander I was just looking at the "new mission 1916 v 1.0" don't you think the plane set is not only historically inaccurate, but also a little lopsided?

No and No, not for a coop type mission where you fight AI mostly

Saw this thread only today. It's time to fly MP again, finally. Long life to objective oriented servers! Thanks Vander!

Thank you for your response, but a little disappointed. I though you and your server prided yourselves on historical accuracy, apparently not, the Alby D II and Halby D II pitted against SE5a,Dolphin,and Camels is just sad.

There are no SE5a, Dolphin or Camels in this mission. It seems you haven't actually flow the mission?
I take it this shows up in Vaal's Online server page? Then there is probably a non-active airfield in the mission file still that has these aircraft defined. I will try to find it and remove it. But trust me, I would never put a Dolphin and Halb DII in one mission! :0o:

Yes that is where I saw the plane set,( online server list)then asked.

I apologize for my previous post, and I will try the mission.
Thank you
HB
P.S. I will remove it if you wish.
Again Thank you

I flew some sorties last night. The waypoints for bombing are set up very well. If you follow the AI it makes the bomb run in line with the wind, so the bombsight works beautifully.

Just flew my first mission on this server (needed to take a break and just fly for fun). Everything seemed to work very well. A pair of DFWs was taking off on a bombing mission just a couple of minutes after I spawned into my Alby D.III, so I decided to give them an escort. Had some fun dodging around some clouds trying to keep up with them as they climbed up to cross NML. Just as we crossed the enemy lines I saw a Sopwith Tripe coming down from above to attack, and I engaged him before he could get to the DFWs. It took me a few passes and bursts to bring him down, but I finally did. By then, I'd lost sight of my bombers. Since I hadn't studied my map enough to know exactly where they were going I just climbed up and patrolled over the lines for a while.

Then I saw a subtitle pop up saying that the mission had exceeded the maximum length and would be ending in 15 minutes (this was about 9:45 PM or so ET USA), so I just headed home and (after a brief stopover at the wrong airfield to check my position) landed back at my home base. The base I stopped at first had been partially bombed out, and both it and my home field had some static planes around - gave a very good feel for being part of some larger effort.

I'm pretty sure I was alone on the server at the time and the Triplane I downed was probably an AI, but the server results page seemed to credit me with a PvP victory (not really sure what it was saying - it seemed to give me one of each, PvP and PvE - see screenshot below):

Image

Are the mission/server stats just not working right yet or am I misreading something?

In any event, I haven't really flown MP (other than occasionally during release testing cycles), but it was fun to fly without knowing when or if another player might show up. Thanks for setting this up!

AI kills show up in the k/d, PvP and PvE columns, but they don't show up in the kill streak column.

Vander while flying a lonewolf patrol in the 1918 map a crazy idea poped into my head. I started thinking of the old RED BARON days and their airfield raids, could something like that be done?

On the 1917 map some of the DFWs return to base on the deck. They drop down to just a 100m in enemy territory and cross the lines home at this altitude. Needless to say the AAA has easy pickings.

Were they damaged by any chance? I mean, before they dropped to low level? I turned on " AI rtb decision" ( or something like that) and I don't know what their behavior is when it is triggered.

Yes, they had collided with each other slightly and were both missing an aileron. I guess that is what did it?

SYN_Vander,
Did you roll-out a new map?! I flew the 1917 coastal Channel map tonight, w/ 3 airfields per side with seaplanes, heavy bombers and the new Hanriot planes!

I didn't get any assignments or messages, and didn't see any AI flying around, so I suppose it's a work-in-progress …?

Looking forward to flying this more. Thanks for all your hard work! :S!:

I flew it as well, same time as BH_thedudeWG. Flew a Bristol and bombed some enemy shipping and a couple submarines. Was seeing a "null" subtitle every time anyone successfully destroyed something.

Anyways besides that minor issue the map looked great. I think this is my favorite MP map, love flying over the ocean!

Thanks! :S!:

I checked the SYN stats page and looked up the missions. I think it was a Vintage Mission, but I could swear the server was Active Front. That would explain the lack of AI planes.

Hopefully he's in the process of converting it to the Active Front rotation!

Hey there!
In the 1918 mission, the some entente AI planes crash into the hangars or the tree just in front of the hangars during landing. I see this regularly with RE8s and sometimes with Spads.

Thanks in advance,
:S!:

Thanks, I'll look into it. Some AI planes have a really low glide angle on landing, which makes it almost impossible to have them land into the wind, but over the hangers….

EDIT: I have moved the landing waypoints away from the hangars; I hope it is enough….

Hi Vander.
Thanks for adding the big ladies to the 1917 and 1918 missions!
Are there some strategic targets worth bombing besides the airfields?

Okay, so now there is also an "Active Front" version of the Channel mission. The map is a little smaller, so any ships should be easy to find!

Hi!
I really love flying active front.
But is it possible to add new missions? Actually we have the same 4 missions in rotation since late october. Something new would be really great.
What about a summer/fall setting around the Toul Sector using the N.28 and the Breguet (as I really miss both of them)?
What about tweaking existing missions like adding a DH2 and Fokker E-III to the 1916 setting?

It would be great if you find some time to give us something new. Meanwhile I enjoy flying on your server and thank you again for your great work!

Hi SYN_Vander,

Just wonder if the SYN live active front maps are still up to play on weekdays.

Since I never saw anyone in the server, I was always going to fast multi servers gp, but now, I will try to go and have a few fights against AI and maybe real pilots!

Thanks again for all the hard work you guys are doing, so the game still feel's fun to play!

Cheers mate

Gen ;)
