Hi BaronVonMyakin,

All the best with your project... and take all the time you need to finish it!

I was just really happy to see a map project about the Italian Front.

I was talking with ROF organizers', and the Italian Front was a wish for maybe a future event!

Cheers,

GenMarkof ;)

I feel myself not so good that I promised some time ago to show something new but didn't do it yet. It's so because work with composing of different textures needs a bit more time as I thought before.

That's why here is some screenshot that you guys won't think that I gave this project up :)

I just notice that screenshot is from editor and terrain without masks - I mean masks are finished already but now switched off because of texturing and map looks much better in game.

I decided share this screenshot because suddenly got this sight and found it looking great.

attachicon.gifit.jpg

I still hope that I'll finish with textures and forests soon and then can show you how really cool map looks with different types of forests and textures of different regions.

:icon_e_salute:

I just love that picture keep up your good work. And let us know if you need help.....

As I wrote before, I don't know when it'll be available. Unfortunately..

I'm doing my best and building the map so fast as possible but not all things (and plans) depends on only my wishes.

Hey, this looks terrific! Take all the time you need. As long as we can start our engines in Feltre one day, and meet our opponents in the sky over the Piave. That would be a dream. I have created about 17 historical austro-hungarian AD3 Skins (some are new, some are existing ones in "my version"), which I am about to present to the community soon. It would feel great to take Flik 3J, 55J, 61J and some of my favourite Aces to Trentino Skies again! Please continue this superbe job! It's a shame, that the devs will never provide the historical aircraft for this thrilling aeronautical theatre.

Salute!

Keep up the good work. :icon_e_salute:

I am a CATIA V5 CAD user as well as Solidworks 2016. What kind of objects do you need? The models I build can be exported and then saved again as 3DS Max files. Then they can be put in Mesh Mixer to lower poly count. What are my limits? So, you need water towers, bunkers, buildings, AAA mounts?

Examples of engine stuff:

It looks like you are doing a fabolous job! An Italian map would be the only interesting and possible alternative to all the flat maps we have. Personally I think the actual maps are all the boring same: "Flat". To u have a river to the left or to the right, a town up north or a village down south doesn't make any real difference. The Italian front (the Dolomitic one of course), is totally different going from Garda lake that's more or less sea level to mountains 3500 meters tall. To fly in a map like that, above all if the wind will have the right strenght, would be a totally new and exciting expereince. What area is actually covered from your maps? Cause you say: "west" that shouldn't be the Isozo nor Piave river. Is it what we call Dolomitic one? The north one? Probably yes cause I took a look at the pics you posted here and they look a little bit like the Garda lake area. Am I wrong?

I'm preparing buildings' blocks for the towns ath this moment. Now they are as LOD0 and should be prepared in LOD1, LOD2 etc.

You can of course help with unique buildings if you wish. I'll prepare a list of them lately. Such buidings have to be more detailed than towns' buildings so they can have more polygons.

But first of all you should be sure that Solidworks or CATIA models could be so saved that it'll be able to open them in the old 3DS Max 8.

I wrote alredy earlier that it'll be Garda Lake region. It'll include such noticeable towns as Trento, Vicenza, Verona.

I'll show the map of the region soon because I want to discuss with the community places for the non-historical airfields.

Good! Remember to involve us. In JGS4 we are all Italians and the large majority of us lives very close to that area.

Plus we have a couple of real life pilots living in Brescia thart's  few km from Verona. Useless to tell you they have a deep knowledge of the area, even from the perspective of a pilot.

If needed we will be glad to help you.

Dammed! That means I'll get at most critic of the reconstruction of this region from you, guys!  :icon_e_deadman:

Just a joke  :icon_cool:

You can help me right now. I need photos of the ground from the air at the altitude 1000m and 1500m. That should be "flat" landscape somewhere south of Garda lake. No matter which region. Maybe your real life pilots can help with that.

Lately I'll need maybe some another information. I'll write about it.

Do you need it to "understand the way the general landascape looks like"? Colors, kind of plantations and so on?  I have a book about  ww1 aerial photo recon in that area. I will take a look and see if I can find something

Right! I need to see how landscape looks like from above. Most of all, I need see how trees and groups of trees are located.
Really saying, it's finished already but I can't say that I'm 100% glad with the result however it was made by real photos with right adjustment to game's scale.

Unluckily our real life pilots do not have any of the pictures you require. I do suggest you to take a look at "bing maps". They have pretty woderful aerial pictures that will give you a perfect vision of the landscape. The problem is that teh actual landscape, including trees, had little or nothing to do with the 1915 landscape.  I think you should include there a whole lot of cultivated fileds, mostly wheat and  vines.

This pic is probably the best represantion of the kind of landscape you wanted find, in that area, around 1915.
