Dear Pilots,

After much time and effort we are finally able to open the ROFMODS website that will be the main repository for all (reasonable) mods, tools, apps and special content for Rise of Flight. The goal of this website is to take the chaos and confusion out of using mods for ROF. We have a great Mods On mode that makes using mods quite easy and we want creative people to take advantage of it.

ROFMODS Website

There have been many cool mods developed for ROF that have the tendency to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the forum. Also, installing them can be a confusing adventure. So, by using the JSGME Mod Manager tool and mods that are pre-configured to work with it, installing and uninstalling is a snap. We will use the JSGME tool until some other tool/utility becomes available that is specifically designed for ROF by a 3rd party. This may or may not happen, but that is my hope.

ROFMODS will be closely managed to keep things tidy. Myself (Jason) and other qualified assistants will manage it.

For mods to be considered for placement on ROFMODS, they must work and be prepared in advance to work with the JSGME Mod Manager tool. Basically just create a .zip that has all the files placed in their proper folder hierarchy within the main ROF directory. JGSME will do the rest. Please download and examine an existing mod to understand what that means. It's quite simple.

Mods will continue to be added to the website in the coming weeks and months. Please do not PM me asking for me to add certain mods. My PM box fills up too fast. I am aware of many popular mods, but if you want to make me aware of one please post in this here thread with a link to the original thread or where to grab it. Providing me a short, clear description of what the mod does will also speed up the posting process. Also, all images for the ROFMODS viewer need to be in 16:9 aspect ratio such as 1280x720 etc. The less editing I need to do the faster a mod can be put up. Please keep the number of images to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10.

I will update this post as warranted as the ROFMDOS website evolves.

We hope you will enjoy ROFMODS!

Jason

Great initiative, thanks RoF team! I have never really played with RoF mods before, but this looks like a good time to give 'em a try.

An excellent idea that will certainly help folks find what they are looking for in one, easy to find location. I certainly hope the ROFMODS will fill up quickly and perhaps even encourage others to write new ones. Thank you.

Just the new objects work with Mods Off. All other mods need Mods On.

Just an idea is there a way to record the track like in Il2, after u finish u flying. I like to have both options if it is posibol like it is now and to record the mission after u finish slying. Theat is for us samwhat older and with bad eys when we forgath to record in the begining of the mission.
And gr8 work on making the mods website. I hope it will make more peapol making cool and gr8 stuff for rof, just like the amezing peapol here all redy doing.

This is a great idea. It would be good if Kagetys' RoF file extractor tool could be hosted in the tools & utilities section too, as there are few mods that can be made without it.

From what I can gather and I may very well be wrong, the 'ground objects' only work if you are building a custom mission of your own.

Cheers,
Spag. :)

Each package has a simple sample mission included. You can find it in: missions\mods.

Maybe! I have mostly re-used existing RoF models and textures to avoid extra strain on video memory. Sadly, there is no texture for a French soldier in Rise of Flight available. But maybe someone from the French community could make one ??? :) It will be easy for me to create the extra objects needed, maybe only need to tweak the helmet a bit?

I'll see what I can do. Yes the helmet by itself maybe enough to "make the difference", there is also the long overcoat that poilus wore, but I bet this is more difficult to add this.

Anyway thanks for your offer!

Edit: according to the shapes of helmets, i think it is more convenient to change the texture of german soldier into a french one, no?

Panthercules' Scarves and Streamers

This mods adds various custom scarves and streamers. There are seven packs: Central Powers #1, USA, Entente #1, British Empire, Whimsical, Weathered stock, Central Powers #2. Because these packs use several of the same files, it's advisable to only activate one pack at any time. You will need to have purchased the personalisation packs with the stock scarves and streamers to run this these packs.
