Download from the PWCG Web Site

Version 12 is no more - on to 13. Get it at the web site. Spotlights now work as planned for home defense missions - saw a Gotha lit up by two or three of them. Lafayette Escadrille transforms into 130rd Aero and British transformation to RAF is handled better. Full change log from Beta 3 is below.

Version 13 Final Changes:
New feature: skins
Coded and arranged skins to allow PWCG to take advantage of skins created by the user community.
- PWCG will randomly use skins from a list of appropriate skins.
- Appropriate means:
- Will never use the skin of a famous ace for a generic pilot.
- Will use skins made for a squadron only within that squadron.
- Will sometimes throw in a generic skin or a paint job not specifically associated with an ace or squadron.
- Tried to use as many skins as possible in historic and RoF skin packs.
- Does not use fictional skins at the moment, but will certainly consider historically plausible skins.
- Added several skins to squadrons and/or aces.

Cleaned up situations where squadrons change service or country
- Affects all British squadrons on changeover to RAF and the Lafayette Escadrille
- Change ranks to new service
- Keep pictures
- Change squadron names
- Keep medals from prior service

Lafayette Escadrille gets special handling
- French squadron, but names are 70% American names
- French commander.
- Becomes 103rd Aero on Feb 9 1918
- Gets new service and country. Is an American squadron thereafter.
- Ranks change to American ranks

You can now change the narrative from the Journal page. Make sure that you press "Finished Reading" to save.

Added Flemish names to Belgian squadrons - 50-50 French/Flemish names.

Bug Fixes:
Fixed issue where a previously generated mission can be seen as active in the briefing screen.
- A combat report was already submitted for that mission.
- Leave was taken after the mission was generated.
- A transfer was accepted after the mission was generated.
Change "brought down" to "destroyed" in debrief to avoid bringing down ships and trucks.
Removed Nungesser as a pilot for Esc 124 (where the hell did that come from?)
Fixed issue that could cause ace to live on after the date of his death.
Fixed user preferences not appearing in advanced config.
No more wind sock in the water.
No more AAA in the water.
Fixed issue where spotlight units were not enabled.
Ground Units no longer spawn on top of each other.
Fixed up medal display to size more appropriately.
Eliminated most non-French sounding French names.

Can this just be copied over the existing PWCG (I renamed it "RoFCampaign")?
Or should I delete that old directory and start new?

Thanks for the new version Pat!

Just drop it in your RoF Folder and let it copy over. That will save you campaigns and settings.

I wanted that one myself. I just went back and filled on a bunch of old missions. You can do any number of missions at the same time (i.e. you don't have to save after each mission you update), just make sure that you hit "Finished Reading" when you are done as that is what causes it to save.

I love the idea of the random skins. That will add some character to the flights! Nice work Pat.

Just flew my first two v 13 missions w/ Jasta 5. LOVE the skin implementation - adds another layer of color/immersion.

Great job Pat.

Where can I find this version, please?

From ROF helpful materials it looks like v 11.4, and elsewhere I search are even older versions.

Looking forward to this, thanks!

Removed Nungesser as a pilot for Esc 124 (where the hell did that come from?)

Nungesser fought with the N124 for a short time (12/07-15/08/1916), according to the Esc.124 "Journal de Marche". He scores his 10th victory with them, 21/07/1916.

Thanks. I can check look into that to see if i can make Nungesser's record more accurate. I had him in Esc 124 in 1918 … transferring into 103rd Aero … that part was definitely not right :).

In a Home D Se5a mission, I read in the combat debrief "Quad searchlight crashed" four times at the beginning of the mission. Maybe they are self destructing ? I saw no searchlight action, but I was hit very early in the mission so there might have been some later. Will fly more to see.

Hi, one question… Historical skins load automatically when you start a campaign (for friendly and enemy squadrons) or you must do something?

Thanks and congratulations Pat

I do not have the luxury of hand placement, so ground units can end up in a building, etc. Doesn't happen too much on the front but it's much more likely around a populated strategic target.

All automatic.

Skins are associated with squadrons and aces in advance. They are assigned to planes appropriately when a mission is generated.

Hey Pat, GREAT JOB with PWCG!! I love it! :S!:

I think I may have done something wrong, though. I started a career flying for the RNAS in February of 1916. I was thrilled to see the my squadron had the proper colors! That is until after I started looking around shortly after takeoff. When I looked around I notice one of my flight had Belgian markings and another was in French colors. Further on during the flight I ran across another Nieuport in Italian colors. :0o:

On my second mission, One of my flight was using the generic French colors again while another was in the blue kite, "Le Vieux Charles". ;)

I can't figure out how to attach the screen shots. Let me know how to do that and I'll send them along.

Any idea what I did? :?:

Thanks again for an outstanding addition to this great sim! :D

Bravo Pat, I have to think though that having you and 777 working on separate campaigns is unnecessarily pulling in opposite directions, you should be working with LukeFF and 777 to complete the B Career. I am sure we would all be very happy with the results you could come up with.

Indeed, I like having 2 completely different careers.
When I find the beta career "too repetitive" I switch to PWCG and vice-versa

I will be releasing 13.1 soon. I realized myself that some of the skin assignments are off. I reviewed all of the skins, eliminated a few that needed to be eliminated, then reorganized the generic skins by country. This should eliminate skin assignments from the wrong country.

As for working with 777 … I think it's best to have both. 777 does help me where they can and I take suggestions that they make, so the relationship is very cooperative and not at all competitive. There are people who prefer the 777 campaign, people who prefer PWCG, and people who like both. If we merged our efforts we would end up with one choice and not two, and there is no guarantee that the result would be better than either.

Pat, a question: does version 13 support low resolutions like 1366x768? The height of 768px is my limiting factor; the GUI of an earlier version would miss a few buttons here or there and I couldn't move the window farther.

Everybody loves your campaign generator, and I want to give it a try from time to time.

Yes, my awkward resolution comes from using a laptop.

Pat, is there a notification of new pilots transferring in, as well as new aircraft arriving?
I cant seem to find it (and we've lost a few pilots in the squad lately, meaning # of planes must be low also).
