by the way, if I just want to use PWCG as a mission generator and don't care about reports, I can leave this setting at 0 right and it won't create all of those .text files in the data folder?

True. The log files are only for campaign combat reporting. If you just generate missions and fly then they don't really matter. Just be aware that time only advances in a campaign after you submit a combat report.

Pat, I can hardly wait until April - your new campaign should be a real thriller!

I'm pretty happy with progress. Code and data (airfields, squadrons, etc.) are complete, but only just. Had to make some serious internal changes to deal with two maps, so there is serious risk of breakage, but so far it is looking very good.

Hi Pat

I have a question.

In the advanced configuration there is a setting for odds that an enemy squadron will directly oppose you. I assumed that refers to your flight intercepting an enemy flight.

If I set this parameter to 100, does that mean I will always meet an opposing flight?

When I set it to 100 I often don't meet anybody.

What is happening?

Thanks

Setting it to 100 causes every enemy flight to intersect your path in greater or lesser fashion. The reason you might not meet anybody is timing - they will be on your flight path at some point, but it might not be the same that you are there.

Hi Pat,
Around how many planes are up in the air at once for low, med, and hi density? Thanks!

Low:
3 to 6 missions, each mission has 1 - 2 flights, each flight has 2-4 planes …
Between 6 and 30, with 15 being normal.

Medium:
5 to 9 missions, each mission has 1 - 2 flights, each flight has 3-5 planes …
Between 15 and 45, with about 25 being normal.

High:
5 to 11 missions, each mission has 1 - 2 flights (usually 1), each flight has 4-7 planes …
Between 20 and 60, with about 35-40 being normal.

Seems you changed your avatar, Pat?
I wonder how you came to Wilhelm Busch's Max & Moritz -
thought they were only popular in Germany?

My mother is German. I was born there and moved to the US when I was 3. Visited Oma often. Anyway, those books were just there.

I use M&M as my personal insignia on my planes. Written in the late 1800s so they would have been stories that real WWI pilots grew up on.

A German Oma - that's great!
And what a funny coincidence with using Wilhem Busch characters on your planes!
When I fly with Jasta 5, my personal emblem is always "Hans Huckebein, der Unglücksrabe"
(for all with no German Oma: Hans Huckebein, the unlucky raven).
I even invented a pilot story why he uses this figure:
he is always getting into the worst mess and collects lots of bullet holes,
and his first name is Hans - so his comrades, who all know the Busch stories, call him so.
Also, he likes a good drink any time - so it fits him well.
Here is his Albatros D.V:

Thank you, Trooper. I am still working on the Mauve tone.
I have made all new plywood patches, changed the metal primer tone,
weight table for an uprated D.V and more. I love making skins.

How do you create the quote under your posts?

This just in case someone out there has the touble I had getting PWCG [LATEST] to extract to right place-root.
Despite all advice from so many and from Pat himself,no matter what I did, doing everything as told,it was allways "wrong directory, should be in ROF root etc.
Out of desperation ysterday I deleted RoF then re installed in a fresh location and hey presto,it works.
Warning though,it took twelve hours for game to update.
Anyway, sincere thanks to all that tried to help.

Wow, looks great, Pat!
I've just completed an MFJ-1 Albatros D.III, which I hope I can fly in your next update of the PWCG.
When you update it, it would be nice if it wouldn't only just say "PWCG latest", but "April" or the
date with it, so everyone knows it is the most recent update.
Can hardly wait…

Gawd - looks like tons of terms and conditions to read through before one can submit a skin.
My lifetime is too precious to go through all that, only to uload a skin or two.
Maybe when I have more time on my hand, I'll have another look.
But thank you for the link, Trooper - not your fault.

You can just put a link up for download you know…
All those other conditions are for if you want the skins to be included officially in the game and for them to be seen in MP etc :)

With the latest versiom [13] on starting PWCG from ROF [little gui thing now works for me,it did not with any older version.],I get asked if I want to "turn off text logs".
If I do,how will it affect PWCG?
Thanks again Pat and forgive ignorance all.

The logs have to be turned on when you use PWCG or the campaign won't advance.

The good news is Pat put back (he had removed it in Beta 3) in Advanced Config/User Preferences the option for PWCG to remove all the mission logs after you have completed your AAR. The Default is zero, if you want them removed (recommended) set it to 1.

The trick is: If you are flying other than PWCG (say QM or Fly Now) you want the mission logs turned off or your rof/data file will be flooded with mission log events that you will have to remove manually (not hard but time-consuming).

You can also turn mission logs on and off manually by going into rof/data and opening startup config with notepad and switching between 1 and 0. But if you have the PWCG Gui, you can do it from right in the game, which is very handy.

Hope that helps!

:S!:

If you get shot down what is meant to happen is the campaign meant to finish? I ask this cause I got downed over enemy line & it went back to the mission results screen which indicated death
However I don't think I hit proceed.

Thanks, HotTom - must have missed that.

kennel, in the advanced settings of PWCG you can select, what the worst outcome
should be - something like wounded, badly wounded or death can be chosen there.
If death was your outcome now, it should be finished.
If you don't want that to happen, select "bad wound", which can lead to longer
hospital time, or "light wound" which keeps that shorter.

Thanks

I flew a mission today flying the SE5a & ran into a hornets nest of Albatrosses. It was "death by many cuts" down I went & was injured you know googles full of blood spatter watching your wing tear off. It really gets the blood pumping & is completely different to WW2 flight sims. I spent years on IL2 & loved it with a passion. But in ROF theres no single pass kills unless I can get good enough to hit the pilot in the head. With IL2 & THE FW190s it was a lot simpler

One thing I can do with the SE5a is drag the albatross out & then reverse, he cant catch me. Its good to see this happen with the AI

Not sure if you can get a single head shot kill in the game.. I understood that it takes something like 4 hits to get a pilot kill… unless that's changed.

Had to make a complete new install of "Rise of Flight", and so I lost my PWCG.
Now I downloaded the latest version and threw the "RoFCampaign" folder into
the main "RoF" folder. I also changed the "mission_log = 1" in "data" of "RoF".
But I still don't see PWCG, when I log in offline - like I used to.
In post 1 Pat said "start the PWCG.exe" but there was no such exe.
What is it that I don't remember??? Raaahhhh!!!!

Damn, I could swear you or someone else had told me that before.
The problem with the scrambled eggs I use for a brain is, that
it keeps forgetting stuff like this, which makes me often feel
like being in a repetitve time loop!

Thank you, Trooper!

I am sure this has been dealt with and that I have probably read it and forgotten.
But,is there some way, appart from deleting manually,of geting rid of old mission reports?
I seem to have hundreds of them, some thirty or so after one mission tonight, far more than I ever remember seeing before.
Thank you.

Edit,may have found it?
Changed 0 for 1 in the set up.
Delete mission files after AAR.
Hope that is it anyway. Now to delete the two or three hundred I have left!
