Hi all,

I was searching after Warthog extensions myself, didn't find any active offers anywhere though so I decided I will try to make some for myself.

Usually four standard sizes are available :

- 7,5 cm

- 10 cm

- 15 cm

- 20 cm NEW

- extenison cable is included

- generally, if you are VERY interested we can speak about non-standard sizes aswell.

- payment via PayPal is possible to answer an important question in advance.

- shipping is from inside the European Union.

- the 20 cm piece is quite the maximum with which one can go it that constellation.

- Cougar COMPATIBLE

Take a look yourself :

After a period of adoption an extension will greatly improve precision on your Warthog. The original Warthog-throw is too short to fully exploit Warthog's unique high resolution. Furthermore the high resistance force of the main spring is also automatically reduced by the extension and you get a better feeling (micro corrections) of handling the plane in general. Thatswhy an extension is a worth add-on, your Warthog becomes a whole new better stick.

For anyone debating, this is an absolutely awesome improvement to the control feel, precision, and realism you'll have in RoF!

Just don't slam the stick against the mechanical stops and you will absolutely love this.

Sahaj, perhaps you could sell some advice on how not to fall victim to your guns in MP? K, thx. :P

Let me guess…you use one of these for the added precision while those bullets chew up lazy Albatros drivers… ;)

one golden rule : fly always on my side  :x

… and yes, it is like waking up the potential which lies in the Warthog with that thing but to be honest on that evening you write about I was still 'driving' the raw Warthog.

But two and get a Titan flight simulator free!

Can I ask how much yours are Sahaj? ( or is that a taboo quesation in the public eye?)

No. I am in no way connected to that site and I doubt you'll get a Flight Simulator heheh.

Must be fairly new that offer ? and is the cable included ? Maybe it is that guy who offered extensions on SimHQ once ? I am here on non-commercial tour, just made a few more in case someone would be interested. No big deal.

I bought the 15cm extension to Sahaj.
Install can't be more simple, and it work perfectly.

I like the feeling of it. I don't know if it really improve the precision of my moves, but I have at least the feeling it does.
It's IMO a good purchase.

Nice piece of stuff, thank You Sahaj!
Finally I can fully benefit the outstanding resolution of TM's HAL sensors.
The extension is well machined, I am in a positive mood about that.
I was expecting a long adoption process, but this is not the case neither in FSX nor in RoF.

Hi guys, I know this is off-topic, but I'm unable to detach my stick.
I think that the gray thing below the stick must be rotated counter-clockwise to release it, but I'm unable to rotate it (in either direction).
I don't know if it is just stuck (and I need to apply a great deal of force) or if I'm doing something wrong. Before breaking it, better ask. I would appreciate any hint.

(I'm thinking about doing an extension myself - or buying one if it is not very expensive - I live in Brazil, so I'm afraid that taxes and shipping would make a buy from Europe way too expensive?).

EDIT (after a month): Anyone?

Dear Sahaj and fellow pilots,

The package with your Warthog extension has reached my place late morning next day after I have asked you for shipment! The fastest delivery service in my live :)

First impression (not connected yet):
Brilliant at its simplicity. Excellent finishing. Looks really nice and professional.

Second impression (connected):
Wooooow! Just woooow!
Cannot imagine flying other way now.
I used to fly having joy on my desk. My hand was numb after couple of minutes. I had tendancy to twist my joy at unusual deflections during air fights (eventually I have damaged my Warthog that way ;)
Now, with your 10cm Warthog extention I am simply able to put the joy with its original Warthog base on my chair, between my legs and i have absolutely the best Cockpit-Flight-Controls-Feeling ever! My Hand never gets tired now. I fly with very loose grip even during long time combat fight aerobatic manouvers which was not possible before.

Feeling, comfort and precisions are at the highest level now!
Warthog extension is a Must-Have for every Warthog owner. That is my opinion.

I am just about to order another 10 cm extension from you. That way, I would be able to swich from 10cm to 20cm and back. I appreciate any feedback about flying with 20cm extension, please.

Salut,
Tolo

Where do you get those extension cables? I was considering making one of these but with a bend in it.

I am not aware of any place which sells the complete cables that are needed for the Warthog, basically you have to construct it from the various parts.

It is possible to get the cables, which will work out of box, but they will usually be too long. Typical "short" types are 0.5-1m, and more rare types are 30cm (sold as accessories for notebooks, media PCs). Going below 30cm usually means DIY. :)

It's also possible to use PS/2 cables. Though you have to modify it just a bit. Did it once and it wasn't a problem at all. And I'm usually not good at modifying things.^^
I used a Y-Type PS/2 adapter. It was only like 15cm long, there are propably other lengths aviable too. Had to cut off one of the 2 legs though.

It can be seen here how to do it at the bottom of the page http://simhq.com/for.../3184593/1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://simhq.com/for...bbthreads.php/t … 593/1.html

As a new owner of one of Sahaj's extensions I thought I'd give it a mini review.

Some background.

I used to own a Warthog with a Metal'n'Wood extension. However while on holiday during 2012 I was laid off from work and returned to the UK totally penniless and looking for work. Because of this I needed to raise some cash and reluctantly sold my Warthog and extension.
It raised the cash I needed to keep me going until I got more work, but I have always regretted loosing that setup.

So this year I decided that I needed that setup again. There was a problem though, Metal'n'Wood had stopped producing his extensions.
I looked at another NZ producer of extensions, but didn't like the look of them, far too plastic looking. I didn't want a plastic/PVC extension. The Warthog is metal and I wanted something that would compliment that. Luckily I found this thread :)

It took roughly 2 weeks for the extension to get from Poland to the UK, but most of that was due to Sahaj waiting for components to make the cable. Once it was delivered though I soon realised the wait was worth it. As I have said I used to own a Metal'n'Wood and I though that was well engineered. Sahaj's extension is easily equal to that. It has a simplicity to but the actual finish is superb. What does stand out is the extension cable, the cause of the delay. The Metal'n'Wood used an adapted splitter and I've seen other posts describing how to modify a PS2 splitter. That is not a Sahaj's solution, no, he makes them from scratch. The cable is hand made using correct components. this sets it apart form other extensions.

The actual components
Image

Fitting was easy, I removed the Grip and first fitted the cable then the actual extension over the top of that. The finish of the thread on the extension meant that it went on smooth as silk. I then plugged the cable into the grip and placed it on the extension with a slight offset of around 10 degrees. Because of the way the extension is made you can set the offset to whatever angle you want. The NZ extension I mentioned earlier is restricted to just square on or 20 degrees. I'm now in sim Nirvana. IMO Warthog is the best stick available to us off the shelf and the extension makes it even better.

Stick and extension in place
Image

The extension means that the spring force is slightly reduced at the grip to a more comfortable strength. Also as the Warthog uses high definition sensors on the Axis and the increased movement means you have more control over your inputs. Fine adjustments are easy to make.

I throughly recommend Sahaj's extension. Well worth the very reasonable price asked. I know Sahaj has not posted prices on the net, but I can say it is a little less than what I paid Metal'n'Wood and comparable to the PVC looking NZ product.

Sahaj thank you Sir! :S!:

Hello fellows!

Now, I'm one of the happy owners of Sahaj's Warthog extension. And that's super!
Everybody who has Warthog but still not sure if this extension is useful and effective, should stop to think about such trifles and buy this "add-on" finally! Because it's really so! :D
Even despite tight spring, the extension allows to control a plane very very precisely - mm by mm.

I can't say that I began to shoot better after buying the extension - I should to train (and fly generally) for that more often. But I can surely say that now I feel a plane in the game much better after Warthog's upgrade. Especially, during a landing and a taking-off.

The extension is made very well, communication with Sahaj is perfect and shipping is fast.
In short, must-have! :S!:

I also contacted the OP and got the 7,5 cm version of the extension. The item is very light but feels very strong. Looks also great.

For me the 7,5 cm one however seems to be even a bit too short. I'd like to get even easier micro-adjustments, so maybe I will get a longer version later, if I cannot get used enough to this one. 10cm ones were out of stock when I ordered.

Overall, a recommended product.

Ordered the 10cm extension last week. Let's see how it goes, high hopes of finer/better control like in real planes.

Hi folks,

just received my 7,5 cm extension for the Warthog from Sahaj and I can tell you it's absolutely worth the money for the gain in smoothness, feeling and precise control of the stick. It has been a friendly and fast transaction, the parts (extension itself and a short connection cable) are flawless, (thread felt a bit rough under my fingertip) but assembly was quite easy to do in a minute. All buttons are working.

Using the Logitech G940 (with force feedback) for several years, I always have been curious about Thrustmasters' Warthog and this year wife surprised me with this nice stick and throttle on my birthday. After trying I was first disappointed by the strength of the spring, it was some kind of … exhausting … compared to G940, (centre spring disabled, very sloppy …), but with time I got used to it and was looking for a way to optimize.

Initially I was interested in a 10 cm extension, but Sahaj convinced me to start with the smaller one and it was a good advice, it is enough leverage effect to do smooth stick movements relative to the resistance. Of course I cannot compare but I highly recommend it, 7,5 cm extension is long enough … oh man, not what you think.

With the extension this thing was definitely too tall to look above standing on the table, so I had to mod my "cockpit floor board" and built some kind of socket for the stick, finally the way your hand placed on the grip is way more ergonomic. I have made some pics if you are interested.

So thank you, Sahaj & Salute!

1. I made some two unique 20 cm pieces and want to add them the porfolio, quite the largest extension with wich to go in that constellation. If someone will be interested, let me know.

2. Added a link to my newly set up Facebook fanpage - if you care to like …

I have had my Warthog since January 2011, sadly it has spent most of its time in a cupboard whilst I played ROF as playing at a desk meant it was too stiff and also with no trim on planes bloomin awkward even with curves.

I got an Obutto R3volution in January this year, finally worked a way to quickly swap out racing pedals and rudder pedals, bought myself the Warthog custom mounts and what a difference that made much better. But I then ordered a 7.5cm extension and wow, that totally transformed the stick, perfect size for the Obutto with centre mounted stick between the legs, even with my racing wheel base still fitted it does not interfere.

Oh and I can now also set the stick at the correct angle as in the real warthog it sits off centre making the hats etc. easier to use as the wrist is straight.

The only problem now is the dreaded rubber ring de lamination issue, PTFE rings on order and a regrease planned in the New Year.

Highly recommended.

Thanks Sahaj
