How do you find/repopulate the default files for the Luascripts folder?

(1) possibly try a "recovery" from the RoF launcher?

(2) Copy them from the backup copy you made of your RoF installation before you started messing with the files (you did make a backup, right?)

(3) download a copy of the Free-to-play client, install it to a dummy folder on your HDD, update it to the latest version, and get the files from there.

By default, the only folder that you would find in luascripts is 'snapviews.'

How do the modders get the values/files for the various ai and weapons mods?

I've never played around with trying to create any such AI or gunnery mods, so I'm guessing here a bit based on some other simple modding I've done, but I suspect they pull the relevant file(s) out of the game's .gtp files and modify them however they think will work (based on trial and error or otherwise), and then put them into the appropriate LuaScripts or other folders where (if "mods on" is ticked) RoF will look to see if they're there before defaulting to using the corresponding stock files.

Looking at the stickies and a quick search have not turned up the answer yet; where/how would one extract these files?

Or in other words, I specifically wanted to take a look at the default rear gunner files vis a vis Gavangi's and Avinimus. How do I find and extract them?

search for threads in this seaction talking about "gtp" - that should pull up some discussions about the free gtp file unpacker and how to use it to find and extract such files to start playing with them.

Such as these:
