We should get some interesting skins. I'd completely forgotten that in WW1 they had used disruptive pattern camoflage, if I remember correctly on aircraft as well as ships. Some really bizarre stuff.

Well, I can understand it on a ship, to disrupt a torpedo solution, but on an aircraft? Seems more like a recognition feature, as mentioned earlier in the thread. Sounds like they were more scared of their own flak than enemy fighters!
That ain't gonna work in RoF ;)

Sorry, I thought I'd posted an image, but if you trawl through Dazzle images for aircraft you will see a Felixstow in zigg zagg Dazzle. Pre Radar, I suppose it was just as effective at disguising attitude and heading from ground based gunners, which would have been the main threat to sea patrols.

Great! But, is it me or on this screen, there are two clouds layers with different altitude? One just on top of the Felixstowe, and the other, in the distance, near the ground?

Like Pimpin for these aircraft I thought it was about not being shot down by your own side and being easy to spot on the water when you'd…. run out of fuel/been shot down/had mechanical failure (delete as appropriate)

I believe it's been stated that the Channel Map (and subsequently the Brandenburg and Felixtowe) won't be featured in Career Mode right away.

The historian JM Bruce had this to say about dazzle paint on the Felix:

"The pioneer in this matter had been Capt. Hodson, whose F.2A (N.4289) "was terrible in appearance, painted post-box red, with yellow lightning marks running diagonally across her . . . he fondly hoped that this would put the wind up the Hun". It is doubtful whether Hodson's colour scheme contributed directly to the defeat of the enemy on June 4th, but it certainly enabled his comrades to identify his aircraft immediately and positively, and set a fashion for flying-boats which endured until the Armistice."

Oh yes, skinning this plane is going to be a lot of fun. If it's bizarre, then it's a Felixstowe paint scheme.

does anyone know if they ever mounted davis guns on the felix like on the handley page?

Petrol? Rotting Fish? Do tell… :D

I recall reading about someone looping a Walrus (!) - not a good idea, as the end result was a shower of seawater from the bilges, along with one or two loose nuts, spanners etc. Let's see if they've modelled that. ;)

I believe on that.RoF models get better at every release.Kinda makes the earlier planes to look humble…

Also,I realised that as opposite as it is in IL2,the bigger the plane is,the harder it is to bring down.

I need also to say in this topic that a great job RoF team and everything seems to work with the new update will still work well. The new channel map is also a very beautiful and successful (I like also ships objects, good work also this area). This was a great Christmas present also for me, big thanks.

The ships are amazing, I agree. I have bombed probably 10 of them so far and haven't seen them sink in the same manner. Also, you can see visible damage such as the decks being torn up or holes in the superstructure. Very cool.
