Official Announcement

Good day pilots!

So, the long wait is over and we're ready to put the rumors to rest.

777 Studios partners with 1C to form 1C Game Studios (1CGS) and develop IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

You can read the full announcement on the official website of the game at http://il2sturmovik.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://il2sturmovik.net. We also invite you to our new forum, where you will find additional information about the project and will be able to ask questions and chat with the developers.

To all our ROF customers and fans - this is not the end of ROF development or new content. Please do not panic. We are still working on the details and we will inform you once we have them. Right now all current releases we promised are on schedule.

On a personal note - the ROF community and your support has made this day possible. We have always wanted to make a WWII product and your support of our WWI product has afforded us this opportunity. Now you will be able to enjoy both WWI and WWII products produced by our team and new expanded team. If all goes to plan there will be much to be happy about in the coming months and years. We hope you will stick by us and continue to support our flight-sim endeavors.

Onward and upward!

:S!:

The Entire 777 Studios team

Thanks everyone! Before we get too hot and bothered, please register at the Sturmovik forum and read all that is posted there and it should become quite clear.

Fun times ahead.

Part of me is sad that 777 will loose its identity to some degree as a standalone combat flight sim developer of the highest order. On the other hand this is a huge leap forward for Jason and the team and it is right that they are receiving the fruits of their hard labours.

I have enjoyed my experience with 777 and RoF hugely and I hope they can bring a more user-friendly and transparent approach to 1C in thier future development. I cant say that I have enjoyed 1c`s last foray into Combat flight sims….not one little bit…but I wish the project well.

I would never have been a customer for 1C`s Battle of Moscow other than in this current format. Lets hope its more 777 than 1C!. Somehow I feel Jason just might keep em in line :)

Good luck fellas!!

Annonce Officielle

No, no, I'm not the one who is the line keeper. That's Loft and especially Han. I just work on the overall picture and try keeping you guys somewhat happy. The Team does all the really hard work, trust me. But this has been a team effort and will remain so moving forward. The past is the past and we only want to look forward. Right now in this difficult year ahead we need your support and encouragement. Let's keep it positive in 2013.

mmm..

I wish you guys good luck!

Tho not sure if this is all a marketing stunt to win back some believability for IC.
Rof development is not the fastest in the world and IC hasn't proven to be very reliable. Doens't feel
like the ideal mix.

I can imagin that the Rof devs want something new to work on.

Please prove me wrong and be awesome!

Good luck fellows.

The obvious question has to be asked… How will this affect RoF development and progress?
We appreciate that 777 are a small team and that progress has been achieved through the business model raising that important extra cash flow, but will your efforts now be dilluted somewhat by the extra focus on a new game?

Well, usually around this time of the year we're presented with a roadmap for the upcoming year so the sooner 777 gets that out to us the less people will have to worry imo.

That said, this is probably the best part of the announcement:

Q. Will BOS be based on the Digital Nature engine (777 Studios Technology)?

A. Yes, the Digital Nature engine and associated technologies will be the basis for BOS, but of course work will be done to make it ready for WWII aircraft and other changes to the code will no doubt occur over time. The engine is an ever evolving piece of software.

Finally, a next gen WW2 sim with a working engine. Plus maybe even a netcode refresh to IL2 standards. One can dream :D

Best of luck for the project.

Guys,

Asking questions about how it will affect ROF development is moot at this point. We don't have a totally clear answer because we are still planning what we are going to be doing in ROF in 2013. I'm not going to make promises I can't keep. Other than to say we are not putting ROF on a shelf to be forgotten. Right now we still have our current plans for ROF to accomplish.

Sorry boy's and girls but i'am with Trooper on this one, after investing £200-300 in the game i hope it carries on being developed and not put on the back burner because someones seen something new to play with! At some point will i have to decide either to buy a WW1 aircraft or WW11? it will start getting expensive and you will split the commmunity until it is no more!!!!
So Jason you must have some sort of business plan so please let the ROF COMMUNITY who have supported you all the way to this piont know their future please.

I pray the Lord BoS will not share CoD performance ?!? Image
That is one of the worst optimized game I ever saw.
You need some super-computer to make it playable.

I already imagine… ability to share sceneries (and
planes?) between Rof and BoS, ahhh…. :P

Doh… between all 4 or more WWII theater, Russian is
my least favorite :( Western Europe, Pacific, Africa,
they all more interested to me. Not to mention that I
already have IL-2 1946 on my PC that I'll never remove,
so won't reallly need one more Russian battlefield. But…
the developers are from Russia so… it's expected, guess.

It's gonna be the same engine that RoF runs on with enhancements and tweaks. Sucks for people only flying CloD and hoping for an expansion for that.

Good for us because any change affecting BoS in a positive way will affect RoF as well - in a positive way.
