Here is a quick collection of some airfields objects I have been working on. Ideally, we would want to make a couple of these "scenes", sharing the same textures.

Attached File  airfieldobj_02.jpg   316.93KB   4322 downloads

I have also included the files so you can add them in a mission. Unzip these in your Rise of Flight folder.

Do you have to use mod on when you want to put this in the game ??

That's the funny thing. You don't need mods on as noting is "modded", only added.

Ha, nice, now all you need is a Belgian milk-maid, tin bucket and a Fresian dairy heiffer.

Very Nice! Are these models fairly easy to make? You seem to be churning them out quite quickly :)

Just because I can give multiple orgasms to the furniture just by sitting on it, doesn't mean that I'm not sick of this damn war: the blood, the noise, the endless poetry...

Relatively easy. The table, stool, barrels and crates I downloaded from turbosquid. Unfortunately, a lot of the free models are not well made and you may need to adjust uv mapping and textures. The gramophone I made myself, which took most of the time, probably around 2-3 hours, but I'm still learning. Then you need to map all models to one texture, make LODs and of course the damage models…

My idea was to attach a small mp3 to the objects so that as soon as you got near you would hear the sound. This is possible in RoF, but according to DiFIs the part of RoF that controls sound is not "open". But hopefully one day we will be able to add more sounds to the game such as the current siren and church bells sounds. It will add a lot of atmosphere to the airfield! :)

That's a nice idea.. come into land at your aerodrome after a long patrol, taxi up to your hanger and switch off, and in the background there is the gramaphone on a table blaring out a scatchy old tune.. :)

Here is a challenge for a talented 3d modeler:

Image

Manfred von Richthofen overlooking the airfield while you take off /land :)

Can it be done by scanning the actual figure or the photographs in this thread?

Well, good idea,
some unique persons or objects standing around airfields (M.v.R. for example standing all the time at one field you got to discover first!)

I hope you understand

Wow truly amezing. :o Theat is what we need in rof. Now is it posibole to use plane like u did to be static object. So u cann put couple of them on airfield and solders around it but to keep them grounded. Would be gr8 if it is posibole.
Truly good work. Keep up, and if u need help and i cann be off eny pm me. :S!:

See this screenie. The Camel in front is a normal RoF plane, the others are static objects. This was a quick conversion from an existing 3d model:

LOL, don't celebrate yet. There are some issues with importing planes:

-No specular lighting, so they don't look as good as normal planes.
-No proper damage model, only on/off. Remember IL2

Image

All destroyed planes look exactly alike. The best we could do is to make a group of three static planes and then each will have a different damage model so it wouldn't look so fake.

The model in the screenshot above is not very optimized (7500 polys) so we'll definitely not be using it I guess.

Hmmm, doesn't sound too bad I mean having them all have the same high qaulity DM would be a big hit on resources wouldn't it? If these are mainly for bombing missions then it seems O.K to me.

Yeah, I know. It's about 1,10 m high, bit should be like 75 cm :). I'll re-scale.

Now that open up doors somewhat I think.
