@ Jason and Alexx78 - I guess I must be missing something here, but I've looked at several of the .dds files in Fubar's mod folders, and except for a portion of the FD7 skin template I have not been able to find any significant portions of the skin templates that seem to have any of the same textures as those in Fubar's mod files. I did try pasting the portion of Fubar's FD7 texture on top of the corresponding portion of the FD7 skin template, and the resulting skin does show s difference in the engine area, as indicated in the screenshots below:

As you can see from the second and third pictures above, there seems to be no real benefit to having put the textures in the skin template, as compared to simply using the mod. And of course, if you use the mod all the skins will show the benefits, whereas if you add the partial textures to the skins only those certain skins created from that revised template from here on out will display the differences.

Conversely, with (for example) the Pfalz D.IIIa, I could not find any place on the skin template to put any of Fubar's textures, yet running with the mod activated makes a significant difference in the engine appearance, as noted below:

So, I guess I'm still confused about what's being requested/suggested here.

Well… :) I primarily interested in the possibility of replacing the engine textures from Neiuport 11 to Niueport 17 (-17GBR) (N17 engine texture it's too ugly by default), because there is texture engine integrated in the skin of aircraft (other aircraft work fine when using engine mod). I moved the texture engine by "copy-paste" method from N11 to N17 in the .DDS format, but in a format .PSD key problems I am having. Can you make the default N17 and N17GBR Template skin in the .PSD format with engine texture from N11?

Aha - thanks for the additional information about what you're looking for. It's gotten too late tonight to mess with this, but I'll take a crack at it tomorrow night when I get back from work. Based on what I saw from the (apparently misguided, as it turns out) work I did tonight with Fubar's mod textures, I think I'll be able to do what you're looking for, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow night.

Can you just simply do that? Yet similar, the Nieuport 11 and Nieuport 17 engines are quite different (both are Le Rhône, but different sizes I think).

Sorry guys I've been abit busy I've just seen this

Fubar,

Can you make your engine textures that are on the skin itself available as a .psd as layers (just the engine parts) for skin makers? I will add this mod and the layered .psd for skin makers on the ROFMODS website soon.

Jason

I will have alook at doing this, Just to check we are on the same page I've put the engine skin
for the Fokker DVII in a file which is the same size as the default Fokker DVII Template.
You should be able to drag and drop my engine skins onto the default Template and they will
postion in the correct place (drag and drop the folder called engine gun in my file).
when you have done this place the engine gun folder as the top layer or they will be to dark.
I think this is what you mean :S!:

Download the file here Guys and try it out http://www.mediafire...DVII_engine.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mediafire.../download/hfr1d … engine.zip

If this is correct I look at the other aircraft files soon :)

I ran some experiments tonight to see if this might work. Took some of the N11 engine textures I thought I could recognize on the N11 skin template and copied them into the seemingly corresponding portions of the N17 skin template. It does seem to be making something of a difference - not so much while in flight, but more noticeably while parked on the ground:

[EDIT] Found some more parts' locations, so here's an updated comparison of results so far:

Modified N17 skin engine:

There are still some things that look like they may be engine parts on the N11 template that I haven't found corresponding parts for on the N17 template yet, but I just wanted to check and see if this is the kind of thing you were looking for.

Also hoping Fubar (who knows what he's doing here) will step up and deal with this in his great engine skin mod, although this has been an interesting little twist on skinning that I haven't messed with before.

Fubar,

Yes, this is what I mean. All of our aircraft texture templates are the same size, so if you make a single .psd with layers for each different type of plane artists can just drag and drop your layer or group into their template to replace the old textures for planes that get their engine textures from the skin texture and not the common texture.

What would help me. I don't have this info on top of my head believe it or not.

1. A list of planes that get their engine textures from the skin template itself.

2. A list of planes that get their engine textures from the common texture.

3. A layered .psd that contains all engine textures for planes that get their engine textures from the skin template.

4. A JSGME ready mod that contains all new engine textures that use the common texture.

I will offer both the mod and the layered .psd on the ROFMODS website with explanations the relationships between planes and common engine textures and which planes get engine textures from where.

I see some of you piecing together different planes. Someone take charge and just give me the final result. I don't have time to piece them all together myself.

I vote for Fubar to be in charge :)

My little experiment with the N17 above was an interesting diversion, but I'm so far down in the weeds on the career mode/PWCG historical skin project I may never see the light of day again, at least not in time to do this effort justice

Yep I’m an 2009 Rof pre-order buyer and one of the few that did buy the Sikorsky game.

I have a little problem with your mod, it seems to provoke a bug on the bullet belt of the SopwithStrutter,
Without the mod

I think the problem is in the ac_common.dds files, I guess they made some changes in it with the last update. (top in the actual vanilla version, down is yours)
