Some speculative designs I have come up with myself. Regarding the Besler Steam airplane of the 1930's, which worked very well, these aircraft are propelled by lighter weight high pressure and high specific-output steam engines fed by flash boilers and with a no-loss water condensing system. They would not be able to carry as much as they would be if powered by IC motors, but they would be inherently easier to control and more forgiving to fly. A steam engine can be totally stopped and also reversed. The "Gigant" is fitted with controllable pitch propellers.

Oils. Works in progress. Haven't had much time lately to paint so slow progress.

Small 30x20 cm jasta 5 still tons to do, used a photo of one of the vintage aviator birds as base.

Attached File  wip13.jpg   446.44KB   194 downloads

90x30 and 120x40 cm. Started work on people and pilots faces and so on. Very early days for all this. Still months to go before done I guess. No colour work done on the aircraft on the large painting and a bit of dried in areas/ also a bit of reflection in the photo.

Jasta 5 on patrol 1918, AAA bursting around them. And jasta 6 taking off. Pre work done on computer in photo-shop and so on. Then transferred to canvas. I am using "old holland" and "Schmincke Mussini" oil colours only, I find them the best. EDIT forgot to say horizon line in the jasta 5 painting is not visible enough and to high, fix is incoming. :)

Yes I mirrored the photo, was just that I liked it better this way. But now as you say it I realize I made a major (bobo). Pipes and exhaust are on the wrong side of the engine now. Crud :( Throws such a nice shadow to, but would need to remove it I guess otherwise its not an albie, lol. And here I was living in happy blizz.

Blind as a bat at times. Will have to think about correcting it, changes things a bit for sure.

Another one done, kind of. A bit of glare in the photo. Will take another once it is varnished and so on. Also some small fixes to do. Jagstaffel 5 on patrol late summer/ early autumn 1918. Flak bursting all around. Pilots are from left to right. Leicht, Vollbracht, Mai, Böhm and Schmidt. Leicht and Vollbracht are flying fokker built DVII's. Böhm an albatros built one. And finally Mai's and Schmidt's are OAW built. I paint this type of aircraft mainly because of the colour and individuality displayed by the pilots. Various media and references. Fished in Old Holland Classic Colours.

Been a while since Ive posted, real life getting in the way. Just completed this, approx 800 hrs to draw, A2 300gsm smooth card and Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Plenty of things wrong with it, but what the hell, I had fun doing it, next up are paints.

I know the albatros is mirror turned, big blooper there.

Ok making limited run of these paintings as super quality artist prints (10 of each). They cost me around $130 each to make and ship to the US. Would off course like to make something out of it as well. If interested on my Facebook Linus Boman Anderberg. Or on my hotmail: Legehk@hotmail.com The firm I am using is really top notch, I am so impressed by the results will post update with them this weekend.

Also original oil paintings is also for sale for the right price. The fokker DVII's is off course for J5_Wolff first and foremost if he still wants it.

Will be back in the skies with you all at some point right now real life is taking all my time as I moved to a farm and spend my nights tending to the animals and so on.
