Bomber intercept on syndicate that turned out surprisingly well - for us at least. :P

That was a mind blowing sortie. It was the J5 guys there attacking first then 4 of us J2 guys dove almost straight down for a high 12 attack out of the edge of a cloud. If I remember correctly, no bomber made it home.

What you don't remember is when me and Harry made our emergency landings, we disguised ourselves as Parazaine, took fresh Albatros from the J2 airfield, and flew all the way home. :D Great intercept guys! That was incredibly lucky blowing up two of us up almost immediately. Bender actually broke formation to do battle with one of the Albatros…

He lost :D

I thought there was something wrong with the game (sort of like the floating trees bug) when I first spotted them.

Very effective interception, indeed.

There appeared to be 1 escort. It was shot down pretty fast. Another arrived late to the party. I think it was also shot down.

Actually, Parazaine and me were both blown in half by ground fire.

After that another Albatros kept chasing my nearly wingless plane to the ground and I managed to get him with the pistol.

I'll post the video when I get home.

Proving once again why these big bombers never flew in daylight in real life.

And that the Syndicate server isn't as "realistic" as it claims after all.

HT, try to think of this as one of the raids that caused them to figure out that day missions were too dangerous for big bombers.

Robin, you are such a moron. Go look it up.

The Handley Page flew exactly one daylight mission, a single plane patrol (not even a bombing raid) along the Belgian Coast. It was shot down by a German Navy fighter.

There were no more daylight missions. Ever.

You really ought to do some research before opening your mouth. Especially since you insist on opening it so much.

HT, they figured out that it was too dangerous to fly heavy bombers during the day because they got slaughtered, like the raid in that video. The fact that this particular model didn't fly during the day is only important to rivet counting a-holes.

Robin, please show me a reference to prove what you are saying. You are pulling this stuff out of your butt (as with everything you post).

The HPs were an RNAS aircraft used initially for Channel patrol, not attacking ground targets. There were no daylight attacks of German airfields even attempted. There were no "slaughters". Their use as strategic night bombers came later against targets that aren't even on our maps.

The single loss that resulted in a decision to fly them only at night involved the earlier O/100. We have the the O/400, which never, ever flew a single daylight mission.

You can find this in Wikipedia if you do a Google search: "Initially, they were also used for daylight attacks, damaging a German destroyer on 23 April 1917, but the loss of an aircraft to fighter attack two days later resulted in a switch to exclusive night attacks."

What is it about the word "exclusive" that you don't understand?

TC, when the AI wounds you do you have someone shoot you in the head? You know, to maintain the proper level of "realism".

Dear Tom.
Don' t throw a hizzy, but the term "realistic" also refers to the type of settings used on the server.
Have a nice day!

Pity SYN doesn't strive to make its missions historically accurate as well.

The real deal was pretty damned exciting without turning it into Star Wars.

It's only on Sundays that we strive to have more historical scenarios. This video was taken during a weekday mission where the emphasis is more on action than historical accuracy.

Thanks guys!

@HotTom: I think if you flew on syndicate, that you will find that the missions are generally quite realistic with the notable exception of a few allowances made to see that the planes people own can be flown there once in a while.

If anything, the missions have only gotten more realistic as of late.

I really do need to visit MP again. I haven't flown much SP in the past month and am pretty rusty.

Anyone who reads my posts (and hasn't blocked me  ) knows I am a purist and a stickler for facts. I was that way professionally for 40-something years and I don't think I'm gonna change this late in life

I do understand the value of a fun game but, hey, what's wrong with night missions? :o

That was me lol…thought he was falling out of formation…didnt even consider the possibility of an HP attacking me from the rear…paid with my life…..always in the right place at the wrong time lol.

p.s. good luck to anyone using my skins…it's usually a good way to attract enemy attention ;)

it was fun for a battle even on the receiving end, wish the ai gunners woulda gotten up earlier though to give you guys a hard time. they practically waited till after you all had zoomed past them before getting up on all the passes

The nerf they put on the AI gunners means they're half asleep most of the time - they don't even stand up during the first pass then sit down again after the target aircraft has passed but is still a threat - I just wish they'd made it so they aquired targets at realistic ranges and fired once they got within 300 - 400 yards. Personally, I'll shoot the next AI (or human) gunner I find taking a nap when there's still an Albatross within 500m of the aircraft!

I believe it was your own ground fire that got you, it certainly got us too!

The other Alby (not a J2 or J5 guy), now him I did get…

…or at least my AI rear gunner did.

Still, that was a great intercept, Salute!
