… All told, it's performance didn't quite live up to it's awesome appearance. Clearly a case of an aeroplane ahead of it's time.
My understanding was that the C2 was faster than most of the Entente scouts of the time, and was often used as a two-seat fighter, when not employed in other duties.

Read an old Albert Ball biography from early 30's, the C2 seems to figure prominently in his early career, and MvR flew them as well if memory serves. All in all a very important aircraft for the early period, even though not many built, and yes ahead of its time.

I do hope either 777 pick up on this project or that it somehow gets created.

Albert liked to shoot them down in his Nieuport, his kill list has so many(13 or more) that it almost seems he went out looking for them.

Its more surprising when you look at how few were at the front in Frontbestand, only 50 or so maximum.

from what I have read the Roland was a boat! When it first appeard it was quite a powerful enemy, but it was not the great white shark of the skies, its turn was not that good actually. But it could fly higher and faster for its day, and why not, thats what a recce plane is supposed to do. If I remember, they made an appearance later in the St.Michels campaign…sort of pimped up (so to say)

Oh, great that they are making this sexy whale!

OK Per, you seem to have some influence…

How about a 3d model of a F.E.2b or a Sopwith 1½ Strutter? Perhaps a Halbie D.II, a Hanriot for our Belgian friends, any German twoseater that flew in 1916-1917 or just for fun: some of the planes in the game with a Merc D.IIIau engine…

only when you have the time of course

now get started!!!
