Its just beautiful Per!
WW1 planes are really fascinating. They are all so unique, embodying the different ideas and concepts of their makers.

I'm just not a real fan of the Brit WWI planes. They all look the same, except the Triplane, the F2B and Dolphin.

Can we get other curtain motifs as a fieldmod?

Pastel is a MUST!

Also, dark curtains for those sunny days when a nap just HAS to be taken…

The prop looks familiar :D

By the way - could you provide a screenshots with the wireframe, please ? I am curious if the wing detail is in 3d or is it a normal map.
Please remember that the limit for an external model is about 20000 polygons or maybe slightly more for a two-seater. The external model should be mapped onto one texture sheet. The propeller disc and machineguns are on separate textures. The best way is to unpack the gtp files and taking a look on how the other models were done speaking of the textures.

No time for a wire right now, but the modell is 15k polys right now and wing stucture is 3D work and bump with some photoshop shadows on diffusemap.

15k should be very nice for a two-seater.

The 3D models are converted to/stored in .mgm format so he probably won't be able to look at them.

Mind you there is a lot of work still to be done to get a plane ready for ROF.

I hope it´s clear to everyone I´m in no way building a plane for RoF.
This is just a project for my own pleasure and I make no illusions of my work being as high standard as RoF modellers are.
If this work in a distant future would make it´s way into RoF, I would be both surprised and very proud! No such steps have been taken on my behalf. :)

Great pic. Thx Elephant!
Apparently the Roland was very hard to land. It was prone to dip it's nose. When training on the type expectation was that the pilot would wreck it on his first landing.

Doesn't surprise me, it has fairly small ground clearance combined with the main landing gear being placed pretty far aft (propably something to do with balance issues with the pronounced wing stagger)

I think we can expect similar problems with the upcoming Halberstadt Cl.II, it has pretty much the same landing gear configuration.

Pretty bird.

A plenty of content would render this game really lively, possibly bringing more ppl to it.

And we would, despite the core team being small, have a plenty of content fairly quickly if such quality models were accepted and incorporated even though FM-making is a bottleneck in that case I guess…

Nice work Per!

Good work on the prop with the C2 actually being one of the few planes that had the spinner fitted really tight - unlike the Albies i.e.

If I may ask, how long did it take you to get as far?

Definitely worthy of inclusion, but, I'm not too familiar with the aircraft in question but shouldn't there be a taildragger?

sorry for the late reply. Thank you very much for sharing a picture with the wireframe. The whole model looks so fantastic! I hope that she will be seen in RoF or in any other sim. Again, bloody fine job, Sir!

yeay!

and I still think you should have remote thoughts about asking it bo included in RoF, it is a great plane and a great model…
(apart from the fact that a Roland CII would snug in nicely among the existing rof planes… *lobbylobbylobby*)

If this machine is added into ROF, we will have both the Whale and the Dolphin. Then we just need Cow and Chicken…[giggle]

Syn_Per,
You really did a great job on the model. I hope that the ROF team considers working something out with you and including the Roland, at some point. If they do take you up on it, maybe you will consider making a model for an Airco D.H. 4, with the Rolls Royce engine, of course! :D :S!: MJ

The D.H.4, with Rolls Royce engine, would be the Road Runner of ROF…MEEP! MEEP!
