SPAD 7.c1 of Ludomił Rayski, CO of Advanced Flying School, Poznań, Ławica aerodrome 1919-20

This particular plane, serial unknown, was built by the De Marcay company. Because I did not want to break the original panel lines, I did not paint the camera access panel on the port side of the fuselage, as well as the camera door at the bottom of the fuselage. The plane has non-roundel chessboards typical to the Poznań Workshops where she was probably repainted.
The plane is carrying 4-color De Marcay cammo scheme and has engine panels removed. The personal inisignia are very interesting. During the WW1, Rayski served in the Turkish Army. His father was forced to leave the contry in 1864 after the "January Rising" and emigrated to Turkey, although his son, Ludomił, was born in Kraków.
Rayski was a CO of Advanced Flying School until the April 1920, when he became a CO of 21.Eskadra Niszczycielska (21th Bomber Squadron) equpipped with Gotha G.IV, AEG C.IV and later Friedrischafen G.III and fought during the war with Soviet Russia. During the inter-war period he became a Commander of Polish Air Force and was promoted to general in the 30's. After the lost September Campaign in 1939 he was blamed for the condition of the PAF. During the rest of WW2 he was a ferry pilot. After the war he stayed in the United Kingdom, when he died in 1977.
