This aircraft, Serial No. N5425, was flown by Flt. Sub-Lt. Herbert V Rowley while serving with RNAS No. 1 Squadron at La Bellevue, France in April 1917. Rowley scored his first victory (out of 9 total) in this aircraft, downing an Albatros D.III on 29 April 1917. Rowley survived the war, scoring 4 more victories in Triplanes and 4 in Camels. Flt. Sub-Lt. Stanley W. Rosevear also flew this aircraft occasionally, but did not score any of his 25 victories in it.
