Yes, i hinted at how 'copy' operates in some of my previous posts, basically for those skins which don't have unique names (those based on numeric characters, official skins), there are multiple previews which have the same name, if you don't look at the folders in their path (which are different, each preview being in its own 'plane type' folder). So 'copy' moves all previews named 111111.jpg if one moves a 111111.dds skin. No harm done, except for some additional jpgs created and some subfolders in the preview branch. Probably in the next beta i'll look into this and do as for the 'delete' operation. And if people leave the official skins alone, the other - approved - skins do have unique names, and operating on them should only copy one skin in a similar preview folder.

Glad that the mini-packs idea works :)

Thanks again for this excellent tool, I have been using it with the career mode the past few weeks and it has been very helpful.

We've had some requests so I made a Squadron Skin Pack for Les Hellequins to be used with your tool. Not sure if you want to collect those somewhere maybe, if not just ignroe it :D Here the link:

I compiled a Skin Pack for use with the 1.019 Career mode, I included the entire official skin pack as well as a few community skins that I knew are being used or will be used in 1.020 by player and AI controlled squadrons, but without bloating it with skins that are not being used (yet). Enjoy :)

BTW, what was the compression ratio if you have one such archive somewhere close? I haven't downloaded the second skin pack (i have all skins from all the packs). Sometimes i got almost 1:10 from the original size (if you open the pack in a newish 7zip, it would show both sizes, compressed and un-)

I used ultra in both cases because I only have less than 400kbit per second upstream so uploading the packs would take hours and since we have multicore CPUs unpacking should not take much longer, hopefully.

if it does I can reupload a less-compressed version over night perhaps?

I only asked because i'm curious about the compression ratio achieved, i think the higher the better :)

Ah ok, took quite a long time to compress though, 20-30 minutes perhaps. Does your tool use multi-threading already?

No, as the API (wxWidgets) in which i integrated the xz compression, which gives me tar, zip etc. support is not written with multi-threading in mind.

BTW the second skin pack has a 6.62 compression ratio, i just checked :)

That's the feedback i want, did you modify the list in the right of skin manager? With the name pairs of planes.

BTW it only happens for official skins, because they don't have unique names.

Some more virtual squadron skin packs for those with many skins and members. I did not include "random" personal skins, only those with squadron markings.
Exception were Squids entente skins since he uses them frequently and J2 has no entente skins.

If I forgot your squadron please make a post and I will add yours as well.

In alphabetic order:

1.Pulk Lotniczy Entente* Skin Pack 1.019

Flying Barans skin pack 1.019

Imperial Royal Flying Corps skin pack 1.019

Königlich Preußische Jagdstaffel 2 'Boelcke' skin pack 1.019

Königlich Preußische Jagdstaffel 13 skin pack 1.019

Königlich Preußische Jagdstaffel 99 skin pack 1.019

Wing Walkers skin pack 1.019

*1.Pulk Lotniczy:
I made two packs for 1.Pulk Lotniczy because they are very confusing; also I believe they prefer to use Jasta 8 when flying central anyway for this reason. If you still want to install them I made a seperate pack below:

1.Pulk Lotniczy Central Skin Pack 1.019

P.S. Thank you Huetz and Parazaine for not including the J2 tag in the file name

Updated first post :) Hm, maybe you as beta could make a sticky topic in which you can add in time all these packs, and new ones (including the link to the program)? I guess it depends on how many people use the tool and the packs.

This lets you manage which skins you want to have installed in your game. The Community skin packs (Historical and Fictional/Fun) contain over 2,000 skins, and some folks want to be able to pick and choose which skins (especially which Fictional skins, but there are also some historical ones that some people might like better than others) they install into their game. This tool makes it very easy to either install all the skins from the Community packs into your game and then remove the ones that you don't want, or to install them all into some dummy/test folder and then put only the ones you want into your game folders.

Yeah - looks like the link settings changed again somehow (seems to be having the same Google-related problem it had at the beginning).

Here's an alternate link to the beta version I've been using - I think it's the latest one:

Help, I do something wrong here, I can not get this software to work. How does this work, I only want to delete the clown skins, to make the loading time faster and I do not want to put in a squadron pack.

edit: Forget it, it is working, went to http://gabi-laser.bl...ht-version.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gabi-laser.bl...ot.com/2011/05/ … rsion.html and noticed that I had selected the wrong directory.

Forgive mt density, but it is Not clear to me from the original posts what this tool does exactly. I am looking for something that will allow me to move all or most of my skins to a second drive, as my shiny fast SSD C: drive is kind of small, and it's going to run out of headroom if I put all the skin packs on it.

Will this tool help me do that?

Cheers

Edit: Read whole thread, makes sense now

Have unstickied this since it has lost a lot of utility since the switch-over to using .dds preview pictures.

Hopefully Laser will be able to modify this tool to deal with the .dds preview pictures - it's such a cool and useful utility that I hate to see it become obsolete.

I wish there was something I could do to help, but I'm sure my programming skills aren't up to the task. If you need someone to walk your dog or do your grocery shopping to give you more time to work on this though, just let me know

Attached here is a newish version of Beta Skin Manager.

Notes:
1. archive (zip, tar.xz) loading is currently broken (you can still save to archive though).
To look inside an tar.xz archive, you can (for now) use latest 7zip software (which is a great free archiver program anyway).

2. you can (pre)view skins (i added DDS support).
So you can delete checked skins from any folder, or move them to another folder/archive.

Please test it, if you used it before - and i hope there aren't other bugs :)
