Les Hellequins Dedicated Server

two of our bomber/recon guys reported that the new Spotting at Somme mission is bugged somehow, the artillery cannot be destroyed even if you spend a long time as a recon in the designated area. Did you test it ?
My suggestion would be to pin your server to the new stats that Vaal came up with :
Kind of revolutionary and detailed stats system including squadron stats, thats a nice addition for those who want to analyze or look up this and that after their sortie.

The recon doesn't work on the artillery, but it works on the pillboxes that are placed between the trenches. They take a few hits to take out and it takes some time for the artillery to zero in, but it's definitely possible.
These pillboxes are, however invulnerable to bombs.
You can destroy the artillery by conventional means (bombs, strafing), and doing so will sabotage enemy artillery spotting missions (because there is no artillery left to fire).

like Jorri already pointed out, the artillery is supposed to destroy bunkers (four positions each side with two bunkers each), so you need to find them (look for tracers, also using the bombsight helps, if you don't have a human observer with you) and then circle above them. The artillery will zero in automatically, which can take about a minute. Also when the shells are hitting the bunkers, it might still take some time until they finally blow up. We're in the process of adjusting that, but it's always a bit random, because the shells might hit right away or they don't hit the bunkers at all for a few minutes.
The new server stats will be added to our server eventually.

The Les Hellequins virtual squadron has been a part of Rise of Flight for over two years now. And for more than a year, we have had the honour to host a dedicated ROF server.
After a quiet period, also for our squadron, we are happy to present this server to you again. We have brought it up to scratch by installing Vaal's excellent statistics software, and rather than hosting a set of new missions, we have brought back our classic trinity: Clash at Cappy, Assault at Arras, and Raid on Reims.
We would like to invite you all for our maiden flight on the updated server, which is on Monday the 16th, 19:00 GMT.
The server runs at 'ACE' difficulty settings, and the missions offer a number of free to choose targets and objectives with various planesets, featuring scouts and multi-seaters. Balance of gameplay has been kept in mind, both in the planesets, and the flying times from the aerodromes to the front. The goal is to offer more than just low-level furballs, without asking for long and boring flights without any action.
You can find the statistics here. Take a moment to check them out: they are very intricate. You can register yourself there (you don't need to register to see your stats), and even register and manage your virtual squadron with your friends.
We are also very pleased that fellow ROF pilot chinczyk2 has taken the effort to produce this wonderful handmade pen drawing to commemorate our squadron's second anniversary, which happened earlier this year but we would like to present it to you on this occasion. It features hq_Imp's Fokker D.VIIF, and hq_Jorri's SE5a exchanging a chivalrous gesture:
You can find more of chinczyk2's excellent work here
So it's Allons-y from Les Hellequins, and we hope to see you soon in the virtual skies over France!
