Starting tonight at 19:00 UTC/GMT, the Les Hellequins dedicated server will find its way online.

For now it will be running Matt's classic Verdun missions, that in the past have lent themselves so well for both larger, more tactical battles as well as small scale furballs, and offer the best we have to those looking for missions of intermediate size.

As well as that, in the near future we will post a roster here of the several different types of missions we will be running and when we will be running them. This will include smaller airquake style furball missions, as well as larger objective based missions. This way we hope to present a server that everyone can visit.

The missions are constantly being tweaked so please post your feedback here or over on our forums. All are very welcome to join and we look forward to seeing you there!

We'd love to have you and if you join our Teamspeak 3 server we can work together and talk you through things you run into so you don't have to struggle.

Same goes for others of course.

Then again, if you get your squadmate Gunloon to join as well you'd be grand :D

Thanks at everyone for joining, we had quite a few people on our server today and yesterday, probably more then expected.

Please leave feedback, either here or on the hellequins forum or write one of us a PM.
http://www.hellequins.net/forums" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.hellequins.net/forums

When we fly on the server, we can't really take a look at the chat all the time, so incase you already wrote some suggestions in the chat while flying, please post it again, preferably at the hellequins forum (because we can respond quicker there, .com is blocked at work :D).

Anyway, we plan to put a few objective based missions into the mix, probably starting tomorrow. Nothing dramatic, if you only want to dogfight, you'll find plenty of opportunity even in those missions.

If you have missions that you would like us to host on the server, please send them to me and i'll take a look at them and then discuss it with the other hellequins members.

We ran two objective based missions today involving balloons and recon planes, feel free to give us some feedback.

We have noticed a slight issue with the balloons  in the second mission and it will be fixed for the next time :)

We will be running a new objective-based mission today created by Matt involving tanks and bomb-laden camels. If this arouses your interest, upon other things , you should come by the Les Hellequins server some time tonight, around 2100 CET. We will probably be running a verdun-based TDM mission first but once it is over the new mission will be next.

Since the mission seemed quite popular last friday /11/03/11) when we ran TDM Mission: Attack on Metz, 16.09.1918 by 1PL-Lucas-1Esk we have now decided to run an objective-based mission every friday.

This friday (18/03/11), starting at 2100CET (2000UTC) we will run a new mission that we tested yesterday.

This friday, we plan to host a similar mission like last time. However, this time the central side will be on the offensive using Gothas to bomb a factory complex in Reims. The mission uses a late-war planeset (SPADs, Dolphins, D.VIIF, D.XII etc.).

When this mission ends, it will switch to a late (winter) 1917 mission. In this mission, the entente has to destroy multiple targets spread over a relatively wide area. Camels will carry bombs, SE5as are present aswell. On the central-side, there are the usual late 1917 planes (DR.I, Albatros D.III, D.Va, Pfalz D.IIIa). The central team will need good teamwork to defend the targets and will eventually need to protect the last objective against enemy attacks until the timer runs out.

Both missions are not meant to be historical and will end after 2.5 or 2 hours automatically (in this case, the defending team wins.

This friday like last week we plan to run two new objective missions starting again at the same time (20:00 GMT).
Details about the missions should be up before it all starts - needless to say we will be runing realistic settings with short / medium flight times.

These are the gamemap and descriptions of todays missions.

We didn't have a chance to test the "Achtung Panzer" mission, because of the lack of DFW C.V, but it works as it should.

In this mission, the sides will basically switch roles. At first, entente has to attack some artillery positions, while the central side is still waiting for bombs for the DFW C.V planes. The bombs will be loaded after 30 minutes into the mission. When entente destroyed most of the cannons, a large group of tanks will begin to drive over the battlefield to overrun the German positions. The central side then has to stop this attack, while the entente side must protect the tanks.

Planes in this mission are:
Sopwith Camel, SE5a, Fokker DR.I, Albatros D.III and D.Va, Pfalz D.IIIa and DFW C.V

The other mission is called "Clash near Amiens". In this mission, the central side has to destroy 8 observation balloons, while entente has to bomb the two central airfields close to the front. So both sides have to attack and defend at the same time and this requires good teamwork. We tested this mission with the J2 squadron a few days ago. Since then, i made some slight adjustments, but overall, the mission was working really well and was very intense (the mission-outcome was that entente managed to destroy both airfields, while there was only one balloon left).

Planes in this mission are:
Sopwith Dolphin, SE5a (with bombs and without bombs), Albatros D.III and D.Va, Pfalz D.III and Fokker D.VII.

We will start with the "Achtung Panzer" mission at 21:00. The "Clash near Amiens" mission will then begin after the first mission is over. We might be running some other missions before that though.

(Typos in the missions descriptions will hopefully be fixed before we run the mission :D)

We will run two new objective-based missions on friday.

The first mission is called "Silence of the Guns". It takes place in late 1916 and will feature all planes that were in use during October 1916 (excluding the Breguet and Fokker E.III). We decided that the recent introduction of the DFW C.V is a good chance to make early missions a bit more interesting and it adds a little bit of variety to the more common late-war missions.

The Central side has to bomb three artillery positions near the river Avre, while Entente has to protect those positions. There's one French airfield with N17, one RNAS airfield with N11s and (limited) Pups and a airstart for the RFC with DH2. The Germans have one airfield with Albatros D.II (early) and one airfield with DFW C.V. The Entente planeset will become better during the mission, meaning that the Pups will get a lower respawn time (but will still be very limited) and the RFC will also get N17s at the airstart position. It will be a challenge for the Entente side to fight against better planes, but with good teamwork and pilot skill, they stand a very good chance against the D.IIs and the Central side won't have a very easy job taking out the artillery positions.

The artillery positions are protected by machinegun positions, to not make it too easy for the C.V pilots to just fly at ground-level. They'll need to keep their altitude or make dive-bombing attacks at the right moment.

The second mission is called "Douai at Dusk" and takes place in 1918. The Entente side needs to destroy a railroad station in Douai and a few Bridges around that city. For that, they'll get the Handley-Page 0/400 bomber. A squadron with Sopwith Dolphins and Camels are supposed to escort the bombers, while a second squadron of SE5a will fly an offensive patrol, harassing the enemy. Of course, pilots from both airfields don't have to follow their objective, if a pilot wants to escort bombers in a SE5a, he's free to do that.

The central side will have the Albatros D.III & D.Va, Pfalz D.IIIa, Fokker DR.I and D.VII on both airfields. There'll be MG positions near the trenches, so the bombers will have to climb a bit and can't just rush over the frontline at treetop-level. The Central team will need good coordination and teamwork to defend the city from enemy attacks.

We will start hosting these mission on friday at

19:00 GMT
20:00 BST
21:00 CEST

Hey, ImPeRaToR!
Here is Russian translation of the mission objectives. Translation is not full because big part of text is unseen on the screenshots:

hq Douai at Dusk May 1918 0-400

*************************************************************************

hq The Silence Of The Guns DFW
(hq Умиротворение Бога Войны DFW) - that is not exact translation…a little poetry on the theme :D

Thanks! I was going to send you the plain text today so I did not expect you to be able to translate anything in time due to the short notice so thank you for your quick work! :)

There are a few more mission briefings and subtitles that need transating but that can wait, I will PM you when I have all of it if that's ok. (I lost your email because I lost the chatlog, my bad :D)

Many thanks for your help!

Maybe we'll also a German translation aswell by then, if i manage that in time.

UPDATE: I translated the missions to German aswell, so we now have todays missions in English, German, French and Russian.

Thanks for joining yesterday everyone, I have a few questions:

-would you guys prefer if we only run one mission per evening and if so should we run it a few times (1.5-2.5 hours each run) or should we make them longer.
I am not just asking you Gavagai :P

-those who got disconnected yesterday do you have around than 2-4mbit downstream or less?
