Just noticed, the SE5a page needs to be corrected to its new FM data. Same goes for the N17 and N11.

Love your tool, and appreciate the hard work that must have gone into it. One thing I noticed while perusing the cool timeline by month feature, however - Spring of 1917 is hosed up - the only German plane shown as available for several months is the DFW C.V.

Thanks again for sharing this!

S! Gladio!
Very Honoured, cool site!
Whats the status of FEOW btw?
Saw a mission being hosted the other day (with a lot of pilots in it).

Indeed PH.
We are in dire need of "new" older planes in that part of the war. ;)
I hope I have to add a lot of planes in that timeframe in the future.

You can't trust the store page data to be accurate. 777 never updated the SE5a data on its store page.

I too would love to get some more planes added to the game for use in this time frame - however, my point was that the timeline in your tool does not include some of the German planes that we already have available during that those particular months - for German planes, the tool only shows the DFW C.V as being present in your timeline views for several months in early 1917, whereas in the game I'm sure I've flown various early Albatros types in career missions during those time periods (unfortunately I'm away from my RoF PC ATM and cannot verify this, so I'm going from memory here).

Hi PH,

Please point out the planes you are missing in this time period.
As far as I know I have placed all the planes where they belong.

If you re-read this thread you'll see I have made several corrections.

Here's a screenshot illustrating the problem I'm seeing about the missing German planes:

That's for March 1917, but the same problem also exists for the next couple of months or so.

According to the screen-by-plane type timelines in career mode, both the AD2L and AD3 should be available in March 1917, and the AD3 should also be available for the next several months. And yes, I agree that it would be great if we had even more early Central types available, but at least it's not just the DFW as shown in the current tool screens.

I partially agree PH!
Strictly speaking the Albatros D-III we have in game is the OAW (Ostdeutsche Albatros Werke) version who's production started later than the D-III's build by the Albatros factory.

Common practice is that on DF and coop servers the current D-III (OAW) is used during that time (pre Bloody April) up to the autumn of 1918 (according to the Windsock datafile).
Performance of the two D-III versions was'nt dramatically different (according to some community members) ;)

The same goes for the D-II(lt) which could be encountered after the arrival of the first D-III's at the frontline. Can't switch all Jasta's at once.
So maybe the campaign timeline is "bending" the rules a bit to close the gap.
NO offense to the 777-team, these guys are busting their butts for us! :S!:

Well, I wasn't trying to speak to whether 777 has it completely right or is "bending" things slightly for game play purposes - but I thought that your RoF compare utility was supposed to be displaying/comparing things as they actually are in RoF, and not necessarily as they were IRL, so I thought those pages should be displaying those other German planes that are available during those time periods in RoF.

But maybe I misunderstood the purpose of your tool.

You are right, my intention was to create a timeline based on RL data.

My motivation for creating the timeline is for missionbuilders to get a "balanced" planeset.
Truth be told, I haven't used the single player campaign yet( ), so I don't know which planes are used at a certain point in time. (I fly only online and some QM's to test new planes)
The viewer part is compare planes who are flyable in Rof.

Well, fortunately with the (relatively) new filter-by-aircraft function they added to the Career Mode, you don't really have to spend any time flying the career mode in order to gather the info you would need to update your compare tool's timeline screens. All you have to do is start to create a career, and when you get to the map where you select your squadron, just use the "by aircraft" filter to select the aircraft type(s) in question - it will put a green bar above the calendar timeline across the top of the window that will show you which months/years the selected plane is available to be flown in RoF, so you could easily note that and enter it into your tool timeline screens accordingly.

See screenshot below:

Still loving your tool, and appreciate the hard work you've done to create it. I just hope that some folks who use it don't misunderstand the purpose of the timeline part of your tool (as I did), and therefore get confused/mislead into thinking that the information applies to match-ups that are available in the game's Career Mode.

It seems as if perhaps you are basing the timeline info in your tool on real-life data about arrival at the front (based on a narrow view of the availability of just the specific variant(s) of the planes that are in the game), whereas the RoF Career Mode may be making some compromises and having some planes available in slightly different time frames by using the in-game variants as stand-ins for the variants that were actually there. For example, perhaps you are showing the S.E.5a as only available in your timeline when the actual "a" variant was really available, whereas perhaps the game is making the S.E.5a it has available in career mode as soon as the original S.E.5s appeared (and perhaps doing the same thing with others like the PD3a and some Albatros variants)?

It's your tool and of course you can (and should) set it up any way you want. But it might help reduce the confusion if you could perhaps add some words on the timeline screens indicating that your info is depicting historical availability dates for the specific variants modeled in RoF, and not the dates the general plane types are available in the Career Mode.

Just a thought.

Hopefully one day we'll get all the "missing" planes and variants filled in with new releases from the dev team and the differences between your timeline chart and the Career Mode will vanish of their own accord :)

Just found my old bookmark for this viewer, and really pleased to see it's been updated with the new aircraft (and a few nice tweaks to the UI since I last looked). Hey Dutch Great Utility!!!

I think I may have found an issue with the timeline of the SE5a. If someone has mentioned this already, my apologies.

I believe your timeline has the release of the SE5a as Feb of 1918. I believe the SE5 hit the front around April of 1917 and the "SE5a" model was out in mid 1917, around June, if my research is correct.

Hey Hawg,

Thx for the reply.

You're (partly) correct!
The SE5a did come to the front as you indicate.
However, the SE5a we have in game is the variant with the Wolseley Viper engine.
These came to the front in early 1918 i.m.h.o.

Oh really that's very interesting, it looks like there were a few variants;
