Ok, I'll remove second one.

Also, guys, please provide names of these aces (becourse name should be listed at least for one of them to make a difference between them):

Reid CAN
Reid GBR

So.. No more aces can hit no one of Up-To-Time-Top50Lists? If it is - than we may suppose that aces-list compiling work is finished!

Also, about same-kill-count ranking - ok, we will do like you have suggested:
In row of aces with same number of kills: ace with most recent last kill will be at the bottom of the row, and the ace with oldest last kill will be at top of the row.

No, we are not finished yet, but we are close to finishing.

At the moment it is just a matter of checking whether anyone has been left out, and this is rather easy to do.

As I said, I'll work on the 7 kills aces next. If someone else would like to check the 8 kills aces that would be nice. (As the number of kills goes up, the number of pilots goes down).

At the moment only pilots who have 5 kills by 1 Sept 1916 of 6 kills by 1 Jan 1917 have a chance of getting in, so ignore all who don't meet either of these criteria.

It is only once we start checking the 11 kill aces that we can add a third criterion of 11 kills by 1 July 1917. This is one of the reasons it strikes me as easier to do this finishing work from the bottom up. :)

Thanks for the tie-breaker ranking.

Continuing from the bottom up, here are 6 missing 7 kill aces who have at least 5 kills by 1 Sept 1916 or 6 kills by 1 Jan 1917 (out of 225 checked or one out of each 37.5):

Attached File  tushka7kills.zip   3.26KB   22 downloads

About half of WWI aces had 5,6, or 7 kills, so we are about half-way through the double-checking for missing aces.

As nobody has claimed the 8 kill aces yet, I'll work on those next with the same criteria as for the 7 kill aces.

If you are going to double-check a group, please post a note here to claim that group so we don't duplicate our efforts.

The 8 kill aces were a richer vein. I found 6 out of 181 (about 1 in 30) who had at least 5 kills by 1 Sept 1916 or 6 kills by 1 Jan 1917 and were not already listed:

Attached File  tushka8kills.zip   3.27KB   22 downloads

Thanks, WW1EAF_Paf, for working on the 9 kill aces.

I'll work on the 10 kill aces next with the same criteria (although if we find three more pilots with 7 kills by 1 Jan 1917 we'll need to raise the 1 Jan 1917 cutoff to 7.)

The 10 kill aces were not a rich vein, with only 2 new pilots out of 82 who either have 5 kills by 1 Sept 1916 or 6 kills by 1 Jan 1917:

Attached File  tushka10kills.zip   3KB   17 downloads

I expect the pickings will be very slim for pilots with higher numbers of kills because they received more attention early in the process… though we may still find a few have been missed in the 11-20 kills range.

I hope to have some time tomorrow to scan for some more.

Very good! Thanks to your data we can now raise the bar for 1 Jan 1917 to 7 kills to have a chance of making the top 50 list for that date.

Thanks, Paf. I'll continue from there.

I've checked the following and found no missing aces: 15 kills, 18 kills.

Found one missing 16 kills ace:

Attached File  tushka16kills.zip   2.9KB   12 downloads

Found one missing 17 kills ace:

Attached File  tushka17kills.zip   2.89KB   19 downloads

Interestingly, the 16 kills ace (Walls) is the observer for the 17 kills ace pilot (Holliday), so their records are identical except for the 17th kill which was with a different observer.

Found one missing 19 kills ace:

Attached File  tushka19kills.zip   2.88KB   23 downloads

Found three missing 20 kills aces:

Attached File  tushka20kills.zip   3.21KB   25 downloads

I am surprised to still be finding missing aces, so I suppose we should continue checking… perhaps up to 25 kills. (I'm convinced that we already have accounted for all aces with more than 25 kills as we previously worked from the top down to 25.)

I am done for the time being. I'll work on those tomorrow, if Paf doesn't beat me to it. :)

Found one missing ace with 24 kills:

The 25, 26 and 27 kills aces are all accounted for.

I highly doubt that any aces with more than 27 kills have been overlooked, so I am willing to say I am done with my double-checking. I think we have our final lists.

OK, I'll start working from the bottom up.

And no, Hermann Wilhelm Göring does not qualify on any of the significant dates. I double-checked that.

Should we put "unknown" if we can't find a date, or just leave it blank? I'll use "unknown" for now so I can tell which ones I've already checked.

OK, I've completed Z through N. Time for a break. :)

I had added the death date in my first posts Assist Developer with New Career Mode (Aces List)
But its easier to go through by ABC;)

I did the Letters A,B and C now. Quite a few unknown Deathdates.
Also I found one error in nationality of a pilot and one missing ace.
I corrected the errors and marked them wih color.

Will continue with D later.

I have reviewed this list and it is really great, but I think we need to add a few more American aces toit. I know us Yanks entered late, but for appeal to American users of ROF I'd like to add more of our leading Aces instead of just Luftberry and Rickenbacker just so users from America can compare their rate of kills to their countrymen of that era, regardless if they were in the overall top 50 or so.

Also, I think Austria and Italy looks a little under represented too.

Anything we can do here?

More were submitted than made the final cut, so presumably if the criteria for the cut were changed more would be included… and we could always fill in any gaps easily enough. We just need to know what the criteria are, and which of the pilots already submitted are included so we don't duplicate too much work. National quotas were not part of the assignment we have already finished.

Dates which I've not been able to found - i've set some estimates there (based on available info and killcount rise stop date).

We have in plan to add a "special section" to aces list:
If there some aces of some country in up-to-date list presented, but no aces of this country have hit to top-50 (or top-30, we have not decided for now) - than top 1 or top 2 aces of this country will be listed in the end of the list.

Han, Jason, if you still want to implement more pilots of the Austro Hungarian LFT, attached you will find a full list of all aces.

*EDIT*

I have a similar list for the USAS aces per squadron/USAS aces in French service only/ USAS aces in British squadrons and USAS two-seater aces. If you want me to upload it, let me know and you will have them by wednesday.

It's cool, but the help is in detalizing kill-history of the aces by 5-days segments, like it was done here before. If you will do it - we will be grateful and we will implement it. Thank you for the offer!

Alright, since I am Austrian and I guess I have easy access to the relevant sources, I will give it a go.

Just one question before I start:

What do you want me to do with unconfirmed kills? One option is to display them in brackets next to the confirmed kill count or the second option is to completely leave them aside. As soon as I know that, I will start!

In this vein, theaerodrome breaks down the nationality of its aces lists differently than we do. Would it be useful to, for example, specify the aces we currently list as British (GBR) instead as being from England, Scotland, Wales, etc.? I'll bet this would interest many of our pilots. It would be easy enough to do, but we currently lack the required nationality codes. It would be useful to have a nationality code for each nationality listed in theaerodrome's nationality breakdown.

P.S. Could we please have a copy of the current aces list with all known death dates? Perhaps we could fill in a few more of the "unknowns".
