In Rowan's MiG Alley and in early Il-2 we had the little guys running from vehicle columns under attack

They were 2D animated sprites I think. Whatever they were they made attacking vehicles very exciting

Soldiers in 3D can cause big performance hit, if you will put too many into small area. We built some infantry and cavalry columns for own mod few years ago and even though the models were very simple, they were causing some fps drop, especially after we added "flexguns" to the units so they could defend themselves with their Mausers or Mosins.
Anyways, it will be worth testing once the tools will be availble here. But i afraid the worst - if the tank battle over the front is so resource eating, then the infantry can badly hit the CPU as well.

It could always be something you could turn off if your computer wasn't powerful enough to handle it…

Notice in the interview's second picture of the Handley Page, there is no pilot in the cockpit, does this mean we will have static planes now? :)

Add a SPAD VII to the list, and for sure I'll be happy.

What's the point? It looks exactly like a Spad 13 to me. I'd rather see the Snipe and the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV.

Just because plane might look alike, does not mean it performs the same way ;) Also there is quite a gab in planeset without 7.

ABSOLUTELY ;)
And Spad VII is THE plane missing for accurate end 1916 - all 1917 missions…not the Tripe or Pup…
Even in Pat campaigns it's ridiculous to fly the XIII instead!
Pffff…again!

It is just like with the Albatroses - all of them look pretty the same… but it is obvious we need them ALL :). Same goes with the S.7 and S.13. Same look but a bit different behaviour and very long service during the WW1.

The best choice for me would be a bundle with Spad VII and Albatros D.III (OEF). Another Albatros? Yes, ABSOLUTELY! Don't forget about the Austro-Hungarians.

I have never seen the pup. I have always had a fascination with the DR1. In fact if it werent for this game I wouldnt know the difference visually from a Camel to a Spad.

Well, if the SPAD 13 mesh somehow ended up in my in-box, A SPAD 7 could arrive in time for Christmas, maybe sooner.

…..Just throwing that out there.

Actually perhaps we can add some infantry squad sprites like Panzer Elite had when the SDK is out. I believe the trees are sprites already so this might very well be possible. They probably won't look as pretty and might always show their front to you but they should be less resource-hungry than actual 3D soldiers. Sprites could also populate the front trenches.

+1

Now to add to that, imagine to have some popolated towns and villages like on the FCJ Patch for RB3d. There were even some 3d models of horses around in the gennadich days, what happened to those? It doesnt have to be fancy, just something to look at and not feel alone in a static world.

Thats whats really missing except the Spad.VII of course and more two-seaters. I dont even mind if its AI only for the time beeing.

Seriously Von Huetz, I was looking at the WW 1 Combat site, from the old gennedich days, and I was thinking the same thing about the horses. They even had telegraph wires and exquisite buildings, I have not seen in game. I was also looking at some of the plane models. They had a Snipe in there and I can't tell you how much I wanted to see that Snipe in game. I know that we need a Spad VII first, but I still can't wait.

I am going to love all of the plane add-ons. Outside of the add-ons, I am looking forward to relearing the Camel footwork; when the ROF team deals with the rudder issue. I am also looking forward to the other FM surprises in the Camel and other planes, when they revisit plane FMs. Exciting stuff is on the way!

After reading the interview I was very impressed  about the commitment that Jason and the ROF developers have toward making ROF the most fantastic sim ever created. I believe that will be achieved. I am really excited about direction the game is headed. I have fully supported ROF by buying all planes that have been offered to this date and getting a top of the line PC to run the game. I plan to continue to buy all future planes. I really look foward to the career campaign. :D

I agree. I am looking forward to getting a congratulations from 777 Studios, when I purchase that HP 400! This is good news for Camel junkies too. I think the ceiling of an HP 400 is around 8000 feet, so this will place a Central attacker in Camel country, right where we like 'em! The SE5a and Spad guys will have a ball doing B and Z, giving the meanies, picking on my Camel, a good taste of their up and down whack a mole game!

I just keep thinking of a bunch of pilots on teamspeak all in the one bomber plane or formation of Bombers shouting out the bandits as they come in for a try LOL

The Bombers did have low (ish) altitued ceilings so it will be good to be close-up and personal to the little friends buzzing around the Huge bomber formations :D

When roughly is the Bombers arrival ?

This sure will give Multiplayer gameplay a mission objective , Search n Destroy Mode

Excellent :)

I don't know if they set a date for the HP 400 Wolfpac. Funny you should ask too, cause you are going to hear that question a lot from me over the next several months, at the very least!

The 'commitment' to excellence impressed me too.
The full functioning demo that was released drew my in.
Because of that - I bought the game. I will buy other parts of ROF also.
Excellent interview!!
(I'm still wondering - Why "777" was used?)

I think 777 was used because Jason likes Las Vegas :)

Anyway, if you need any help with ROF don't hold back from posting about it!
