Question. When upgrading all internals like m/b ram & cpu (but keeping hard drives as before), does the validation process have a problem with the new m/board number .rof is registered to my continuing email add. but the computer id will be different? I believe one licence, one download ,purchases ,to one computer only, may also be a problem for me.Any boffins out there able to advise before the swap over?

RoF is registered to your email account, not your computer.

thanks for swift reply Uther, that at least sorts out rof, which prompted the hardware in the first place.

Yes, and the rest should be recognized without issue. Since XP SP3, even making a sweeping change like a CPU/Mobo/RAM switch or upgrade is usually recognized by the OS these days.

Still, a clean install is always better, but it's not nearly as necessary as it was even 2 years ago.
