It all depends upon if I am around to start it up. Sometimes I get dragged to "family events" and have to make nice with the in-laws.

Unhappy with that.

So am I man, so am I.

I was going to join the VM event in HS server, but a couple of the guys wanted som TDM, so I have the HH server running Matt's missions (the rotation with the DH2 mission inside it).

Vander,

Thanks for the new Vintage Missions.. Currently running them on the server and they are absolutely wonderful and a blast to fly. I have a request though. Any chance you could add a DH.2 to the Canel map that currently uses N11's and N17's? I think it would be a blast to have that planeset on that map. Thanks :)

Miggins,

Sorry bout all your rof.exe's today. I had to try the server at least once with skins unlocked to see if it could be done and clearly it will lag if skin download is still on.. It is switched off now. I played for a good 7 hours after switching it off with a good 10-20 people on at all times and it was smooth for everyone. Hope that was the cause for you.

I think it must be a combination of sub-optimal connection AND the unlocked skins. I can connect to the HH server OK with unlocked skins in this type of mission, but almost every time I approached a plane the other night (at least when I got close to AAA clouds, I never actually saw the plane the AAA was shooting at) I got the RoF.exe error.

I tried fiddling with local settings this end to limit the .exe errors as it seems a great shame to have the great skins unavailable but be unable to actually see them in the air.

I currently have the skins unlocked for our TDM missions and locked for the VM type missions, but I'm hoping I can come up with adjusted local settings to allow the best of both worlds.

I should be able to run HH this coming Sunday from 11'ish in the morning for a good few hours.

Our server guy tells me that the 4 cores on our box and the T1 connection should allow us to run with the skins unlocked, so I might give it a go on Sunday.

Obviously, if I get guys having .exe errors I will take the server down abd go with the current settings that seemed to work well last time (Friendly icons will be available for forming up).

Great to hear that Miggins. I have a new mission as well, I will upload tonight.

Last monday there were only three players. After the first mission we moved to J99 server. There was a good mission on with lots of players (with Bombers), but nobody came up to intercept the bombers. We flew a patrol in our Pfalzesover the lines at 2000m or so and we only saw two triplanes. Everyone was down on the deck, engaged in silly turnfights!

I guess we need to to some more PR to get everyone together! OR perhaps it's the World Cup that is keeping people from playing online…:)

Yeah, summertime and a world cup seems to be taking a number of pilots out of the air, but it's still early days really for VM events.

As I mentioned, I will try to run with the skins unlocked initially, so if any on the server start getting RoF.exe errors, please reconnect and tell me. Since there are still not that many of us around, a single player having the problem means I will reset the sever with locked skins.

I have the current VM set plus Sizzlor's mission already, and I will keep an eye out for the new mission to get that on the server as well.

–edit–
New VM mission added to rotation for Sunday.
Decided to turn ON simple gauges too, as they are easily "turn offable" if you want as well.

Took the server down at 15:00 to free up server resources for the non-football watching race drivers.

First mission this morning ran fine, except that the CP hadn't shot any recons down, but won the round? Second mission I had an EXE error.

The first in roration was "Douai - British Recons" Vander.

I'm getting more convinced that the RoF.exe errors are not solely related to the skins. The other nights test with skins ON there were a number of clients who never had one, and when I turned the skins OFF clients still got RoF.exe errors, the frequency was even greater in the first full mission after I turned the skins off too.

I have spent a number of evening on servers with skins available and seen very few errors (up until last week on Syn server), but I have connected there and had no problems in the past since I altered my game settings to show a memory use of less than 50%.

J99 run some "busy" missions and have skins active and I have not had a RoF error in there since dropping my settings a little.

I'm thinking it has to be a combination of the client side game settings and the ping the individual client has with the server in question.

Yesterday was another "Vintage Missions" night and we had quite some people turn up eventually which made it a very enjoyable experience. We started of with the "balloons busting near Baupame" mission which has overcast skies and some turbulance. I must say, turbulance is very well modeled; sometimes you fly in clean air and then suddenly you get bumped around, all very realistic.

Second mission was a recon escort/intercept mission over the small Verdun map. This is when a lot of people suddenly joined and there was plenty of action. Not everyone was going for the objective as I noticed a furball started right over Verdun. I guess people are used to this because of the dogfight servers. With only 4 AI aircraft (but quite some AAA) there were still people having rof.exe errors. It seems the moment their game crashes is when other aircraft start firing/getting hit…
I had to leave early because I had to pick up a friend from the airport. When I rejoined later I noticed the Verdun map was still running so I guess I forgot to put a timer in that mission! I will fix asap…

We had another go this evening and we were glad to welcome some new players. Then the Hellequins turned up and skies were full of action (and some rof.exe errors although I disabled global stats).
Sorry guys for having to quit and restart in the middle of a game. I had accidentally pushed the wrong keys on my keybord while in chat and I switched to my desktop, but couldn't get back in the game!

And another announcement:

Tomorrow, Sunday, 8 August I'll be running the VM server with an early war mission scenario. Time: 8pm (GMT, London).

Location: Arras
Aircraft: DH.2, Nieuport 11, 17, Fokker Eindecker, Albatros D.II (+ AI DWF).
Date: Fall 1916.

Be a little patient with the early types: It does take some time to get to the patrol area!

I'll try again next weekend.

I can never find the details each week to know what the mission is before I go and join.
How can I find these details, is there a permanent thread for vintage mission details.

Since a TDM server with only a few players can be quite boring and now that some issues with AI seem to have been resolved with 1.016, I have set up a 2nd Syndicate server with coop missions. There are now only a couple of missions in rotation, but each should provide lots of action, even if you fly with only 2 players.
That's also one of the drawbacks; it seems you need at least two players to be able to start the game…

Please report your feedback and suggestions!

Tetris- this is another addicting WoW Gold, which keep the gamers aiming to reach the highest level. This Buy Runescape Gold might be for children, but once the adult play this, they get addicted. In this game, it is not just your hand and eyes are working but also your mind. This addicting Buying WoW Gold is being played time and time again. Those addicting games mentioned are some of the few popular games nowadays. If you will start playing these MapleStory Mesos, you can't resist your urge. Sometimes these games are already distractions in the home environment. Once you play with this, sometimes you miss doing the household chores. If you want to get rid of your addiction to the game, you can divert your attention to some other ways like playing outdoor Cheap Maplestory Mesos or mind games.

Since I can't seem to post in this section, I'll reply to this thread….

Today, Sunday 14 August, we run an early war mission again. This is set in late 1916, so the plane set consists of DFW CV's, Albatros DII, Fokker EIII vs Nieuport 11 and Nieuport 17. The Central Powers are on the offensive. In preparation of their next "Push" there are 4 objectives that need to be accomplished before the day is over. These are:

1. Photo Recon over the Soissons train station. Photos need to be taken at at least 2500m.
2. Artillery spotting to direct fire onto French field guns. Fly at 1500m so you have a good view of the enemy battery. The shoot will take about 5mins, so you need to hover over the designated area, see the map.
3. Disrupt enemy communications by destroying vehicles heading to the front. Destroy at least 10 vehicles.
4. Bomb the Army depot. Complete destruction is the goal. Because of heavy AAA, don't go in low but do a level bomb run from at least 2000m

Note: Objectives 1 and 2 can only be accomplished by the special two-seater that is available in spawn point "Recon Plane".

It is advised that everyone has downloaded and installed the official skin pack + the community historical skinpacks.

We encourage all players to make use of the Ventrilo server so it's easy to work together, who will fly as leader? Which flight? etc. You can of course use your own teamspeak/ventrilo if you are already flying in a team.

Ventrilo details:

port number: 11310
