Rise of Flight Mission editing: 6 - More on triggers
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=9uJAlDLQtjg">

Rise of Flight Mission editing: 7 - Groups
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=aFi4pWSakNE">

Rise of Flight Mission editing: 8 - Moving vehicles

Tells me number 4 is too long as has been removed… :(

Clearly explained 1-3, good commentary and explanations.

Numbers 5 and 6 is a little daunting (after not seeing number 4 getting made), but you do explain what you are doing, and more importantly WHY you are doing stuff.

–edit–

Is it possible to create an object (say a flight of planes linked up as flightleader/wingmen or a "standard" airfield AAA defense ensemble) but then save this group as a standalone to import into further missions, or does it all have to be done at one time during the mission creation?

Yeah, cheers Vanderstok, I should have my wheel on now and be practicing on Mid-Ohio raceway for my race tonight, but I've spent the time watching these videos.

I'll blame you when I crash and burn at the hairpin!

Good visual explanation is always better then doing the readings, I will try this.
This sounds stupid but is it possible to import these self-made missions into PWilsons-CG??

If I wrote something in this forum that is hurting or abuse a member, organisation or country? Let me know by pm for the corrections, please do not react back by bashing/trolling/flaming or other personal attacks!

Yep I’m an 2009 Rof pre-order buyer and one of the few that did buy the Sikorsky game.

Oh yes, you can make you own groups and use them later as ready made "plugins". Good subject for a next lesson!

EDIT: already added that lesson. There are now 8, see first post…

I have to be honest; it only took me a couple of hours. I was surprised how easily these things can be done nowadays.

But I'll hold you to that promise. Wouldn't mind dropping by in NZ and visiting Masterton! :D

Really makes sense of it Vandserstok, thankyou.

I won't say I will be able to make a mission tommorow, but you have removed the veil of difficulty from starting out the learning process.

Thankyou.

BTW, my lack of driving practice watching your videos wasn't too devastating, got a 9th position in the race. It would have been 7th but with worn tyres in the last lap I spun and dropped a couple, actually a good few places higher than I normaly finish.

No one else calls it that Vanders as it's an unfamiliar GUI to most people, but that's what it is. Sounds good and professional, the ME is no toy application. It's deep- as we know to our cost :)

No please do not change a thing Vanderstok, perfect as-is!

I'm waiting for my copy of ROF and the new computer to arrive. Being somewhat computer illiterate I was nervous about coping with a sophisticated program, especially as I have read in other forums about how unhelpful ROF flyers can be. My most sincere thanks Vanderstok, you have made me feel more confidant and looking forward even more eagerly to flying.

Lesson #29: If you haven't died of old age by now.

Step 1: Sit back and ponder the extreme unwieldiness of this code, and the lack of common-sense on the part of the writers thereof.

Step 2:
Also consider the amount of time you have wasted fussing with endless parameters, just to get a simple 2 squadron mission built.

Step 3: Realize that you could have designed, constructed, and played an entirely new combat flight sim in the time it took you to construct this simple mission.

Very good tutorials Vander thank you so much. One question of course! Is it possible to have co-op style missions with respawning built on the smaller CTF and TDM maps? I hope that makes sense. Keep up the great work.

@Randy,

Yes, you could even save an existing coop mission as "Team Death match" type. Add and configure a few airfields, put a Mission End MCU in it (tied to a timer or if objectives are reached) and you'll have a coop mission where players can join in the middle of the game. Ideal when hosting for a selected group of people I guess…
Beware though, adding a lot of AI aircraft can bring your server to your knees and introduce lag!

S! Vanderstok,

I don’t know if this more of a question for our good friend taleks2. And if it is I am sorry to pester you.

But on your 1st tutorial you show us picking a template form the list. My first problem that the template you picked was not on my list.

Then when my template I picked did come up, it did not have all the white icons around the screen. But I do believe that a template was put down just with no icons of the different villages and buildings.

And when I put a building down or a plane, once it’s on the ground and I have taken my mouse away I cannot come back to it click it and move over the map to some other place.

Have I inadvertently hit a button or check a box I should not have or is my Mission builder having a freak Out

Ps Love Ya Work!

Even if I follow the limit guide lines?

http://wiki.riseofflight.com/index.php?title=Recommended_limits_for_a_mission

I guess what I should have also asked before would be is it possible to make a co-op objective map have the respawnable plane airfields? If so how can I implement it?

Thank you for the pearls of wisdom as well. I am brand new at this! :D

1. As far as I know, the templates/groups came with the latest update and should be in the template folder? Is there even a template folder on your harddisk? See here: http://wiki.riseoffl...sion_templates?">http://wiki.riseofflight.com/index.php? … mplates%3F

2. It looks like you have turned of the visibility of certain types of objects. Goto "tools" in the menubar and select all objects.

Yes, sort of… I wasn't entirely speaking the truth in my former post. You can't use the coop planes in the TDM mission. All players will have to start from an airfield defined for TDM. Check this: http://wiki.riseoffl...g_a_TDM_Mission">http://wiki.riseofflight.com/index.php? … DM_Mission

and this: http://wiki.riseoffl...or_CTF_Missions">http://wiki.riseofflight.com/index.php? … F_Missions

=IRFC=Randy I've been converting mission over from co-op to TDM.

To get the ai to attack the players, ive had to use the Translator AI POI mcu
I ususally set it to attrack planes, and attack planes. And although ME indicates the type you set the POI to is only for Icon purposes, ive found that unless you set it to default, the ai will only attack the host.

I try and put a 2 min delay into the begin of mission. The host is always the first one at the pick field screen, and it gives the other pilots time to join and get onto the field before things start happening.

In order to have multiple tdms in the pool, you either have to have a EOM timer (which always kills the game at the worst time), or another means of ending the mission. Ive been putting an aerostat on the home field, and shooting it down triggers the eom after a 2 min delay.

And a strange one, if you want to be able to see your other Piolts in external, when you assign planes to the fields, you have to give them unique names. I use 1a 1b etc for the first field I put into the mission, and if i put in a respawn field (so pilots dont have to start all the way back at the home base) I'll use 2a 2b etc.

Vanderstok: Your Cambrai balloon protection and Rear Guard patrol have always been favorites of the Old Fokkers Squad. Ive noticed the 4 Allied Patrols are triggered by the 4 check zones (which in turn trigger the spawn ai timers), but the check zones have no Objects connected to them. Could you explain how you get that to work?

The only way ive been able to get player craft to spawn AI in a TDM mission is to have them shoot something down.

Well, these are Coops aren't they?

The check zone MCU doesn't need an object assigned. You can just tick the appropriate sides that should trigger it.

Vander.
Many, many thanks for the video tutorials - a great help.

If you have time (sometime) can you do a short video on setting up a train?
I'm having a heck of a time getting it to go in the correct direction.
I'm not sure about how to set the "road" setting as there are no "rail" settings.

Thanks again

I tried the ROF Mission Editor Lessons but, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer and this might just be what I need to get me on the right track

Thanks, you Syndicate guys are Great
