when flying IL2 I sometimes like to fly around from the cockpit but with the cockpit turned off.. Is this possible in ROF?..

If so how?

Hi Goosehead,

No, not at this time. ROF does not have that view available.

Sorry.

some planes (for example spad) could really use a transparant cockpit view :) (not a No-Cockpit view)

Yeah it would be a nice addon option. We can turn on auto dogfighting but some simpler options are not available.

It's funny, but I don't find the field of view as restricted as I did on biplanes in IL2 (seriously could ANYONE get online kills in a CR. 42?) At least here we have the possiblity to change head position to the sides and no headrest to cloud our six o'clock. I'd never use transparent cockpit myself, but some newcomers might find it useful.

I am a IL2 Fun, and have flown it almost for six years. But I've never use no-cockpit view during these six years.
you need get used to cockpit view since you are flying a plane not a magic carpet.

you can fly no cockpit, but have to set hat switch to slew plane round the 360 degrees....to get behind your nose.....its bit odd but enables a look around before going to pit for close combat.
also theres the combat view ,again your plane with you behind it ,feels odd also i never seem to understand it.
thirdly theres fly by view nice for doing aeros and watching what your manoevers look like.
if you have track ir then you have all round capability from inside the pit anyway, as yet i havent found how to get track ir to work with my outside view as can in il2.
if anyone has a solution please post reply here.
its all in camera views in settings just change to suit your stick buttons.
hope i got that right .

I personally always like to fly from the cockpit in an "as is" view. I think this just lends more realism to the flying experience and greater immersion in the game. I do agree though that because in some planes (I almost always fly the spad which has a quite limited field of view) it is very hard to see around things well enough to fight a fair fight, I resolve this by checking the "show enemy targets" or whatever that box is that puts a little tag on the enemy and up close to the enemy the tag will remain visible through the wall of the cockpit or wing or whatever is obstructing your view. It leaves the realistic feel in tact but also keeps you from losing sight of the enemy every time they turn.
