Pre-Order Breguet 14B

Dear pilots,

Today we have prepared some good news for you. The first bit of news is about the release of Version 18 which will include the German DFW C.V. aircraft. The final preparations have begun and pretty soon you'll be able to take her into the air. The DFW as you might imagine has some predictable and good performance characteristics. It’s stable both in air and in the run-up with a pretty comfortable landing. It does not spin that easily, but its corkscrew characteristics are very interesting. Depending on the altitude and direction of rotation it will require different methods of recovery. Some spins are more difficult to recover from than others. This plane was a workhorse of the German air force in WWI so you will get a lot of practice on this plane.

Looking ahead to the next update which will be Version 19 we see another large milestone ahead. The main part of this version will be the newly re-designed game mode called "Career" that you have been expecting. We think this will cause you to look at ROF from a completely different angle. As we have mentioned before, this new Career Mode is technically challenging and ambitious and no doubt will have some teething issues upon release, but it is in testing and we are continuing to make solid progress. But before we discuss the Career mode any further I would like to highlight some other new in-game features that are in the shadow of this rising star.

So, for the implementation of Photo Reconnaissance flights or missions involving the Correction of Artillery you'll need some new equipment. This means a Camera and an Airborne Telegraph. As it often happens, it’s the little details that set ROF apart and we know you could not live without them so we have decided to work hard on these new elements. As always, we decided to try and not deviate from the principles of high detail and maximum accuracy in the reproduction of these new missions, so the camera and the telegraph became full-fledged 3D models and consequently, new equipment which you can outfit your plane with before flight. The camera and telegraph will make their debut in Version 19 on the DFW C.V. and the upcoming Breguet 14B. The camera was also mounted on SPAD aircraft. So the SPAD will get it as well. The in-game mechanics and interfaces of these new interactive mission types are still being worked on, but so far in testing they have proven to be great fun and add even more immersion to ROF. More on this as we move closer to Version 19 release.

In Version 19 a new flyable aircraft, the Breguet 14B, will rise into the ROF sky. In addition to the intelligence gathering functions, it can also act as a medium bomber with a range of different bombing options. The B14 was a very interesting plane to build and for the Team, it is one of the most beloved aircraft we have ever built for all of ROF. I am pleased to present to you a few pictures. You can now pre-order the Breguet 14B in our Store for just $8.99 prior to version 1.019 release. Your pre-orders help fuel our development plans so please consider pre-ordering this beautiful bird!

You may have spotted something else new in the images above? We have added a new graphical element to our engine – misty morning fog that evaporates! Its existence and appearance depends on the position of the sun and the seasons. As the sun rises it burns off and as the temperature drops it appears. We think this new ground hugging animated fog may be another combat flight simulation first. Please correct us if we are wrong. The inclusion of misty morning fog will make mornings and afternoons in Western France even more realistic and will add a nice sensation to departures.

Many thanks to all those who have stayed with us! We all know there is another sim out there who is vying for your attention and we know it can be distracting, but the current development status of ROF is at a crucial juncture and we need your support now more than ever! As always, we try to ensure that your support is transformed into new elements in the project and always with the highest quality of work and often for the first time in the genre. We still have some new innovative ideas we want to implement and more content to create for you.

Good luck in your flights and please wait for further news!

Nice!  You guys sure make aircraft purchasing tempting.  Im excited to hear about the dfw coming out soon.  I have waited for a while!  Despite the forward visibility issues with the DFW.C.V I think that this and the breuget will be formidable opponents in the sky.  A new kind of warfare!  That you for working hard to get these new aircraft into the sky.  I already have the DFW on preorder.

spitfirem → 3/20/2011 1:35:14 PM #

Very nice,
I first thought the berquet wasn't such an interesting plane, but the interior looks great, nice visibility and details.
The fog is also really nice, can we select it in the weather options or is it always the same in the morning?
Are those flaps on the lower wings of the berguet?

Jokili → 3/20/2011 1:39:52 PM #

Nice, but i´m still waiting for the DFW.
Will purchase the Berquet, if i got the DFW...  ;)

Rivet → 3/20/2011 2:38:20 PM #

You've always got my full support. Will pre-order soon. Hell no, I'll pre-order now! That fog effect looks great. I'm looking forward to taking off in those chilly misty mornings.

The camera and telegraph system is a nice surprise. I can see it now:

C.O: Where are all my fighter pilots?
Ground crew : They've all asked to be transferred to Recon!! Smile

It should be: "Nicht berühren" Smile

Great News especially the Careermode will be a great step for this sim.
IL2 had something like groundfog included, it used to appear above rivers and valleys on sunrise and vanished after about half an hour.
I loved it in the crimean theatre or on some pazific isles.

But it had not that epic appearance though ;)

1/JSpan_Wind → 3/20/2011 4:27:18 PM #

Thank you very much for your great work.

Awesome! The fog in the morning is a great idea and give you an even greater reality to the simulator of the First World War.

RoF course will have my support as I can.

Already made the pre order of this new and beautiful device.

S!

Katzenliebe, auf diesem Grund heisst es ein "pre-order".....

navair2 → 3/20/2011 10:31:33 PM #

What other sim? I've tried all the most popular WW1 aviation sims from the last 15 years and nothing compares.

Keep up the excellent work. I'll be pre-ordering this just as soon as the DFW becomes available. ;)

Your career mode will make this a real winner.

LambrettaSX150 → 3/23/2011 5:15:41 AM #

Yeh i`ll be pre-ordering this, as for the other sim they seem to be making a real mess of releasing it, no ad campaign, poor fps on good systems and an anti-epilepsy feature thats killing frame rates. Thank god for RoF.

LambrettaSX150 → 3/23/2011 5:19:37 AM #

Ps any chance of a sale on the older releases? like you guys had before. I missed that having had only returned to the game recently.

Max_G → 3/23/2011 6:55:49 AM #

To LambrettaSX150:
Do you mean the sale of aircrafts? Or something else? If aircrafts than yes. The 2d anniversary of ROF on the market is coming soon.

LambrettaSX150 → 3/23/2011 6:02:00 PM #

Thx Max, yeh I meant aircraft, i`d like them all but i`ve bought a few individually and that makes the large packs a bit less attractive as I already have some of the planes in them. Anyway i`ve ordered the Breguet and wish the devs all the best, this is imo the best flight sim currently out there, a fine job done by all.

luuklinde → 3/23/2011 11:52:19 PM #

luuklinde → 3/23/2011 11:56:46 PM #

Iam not going to preorder, not untill my previous investment(DFW c.v)has become reality.
I dont want to rush these guys, but isnt it about time we get to see all those nice things they have been promising for the past 2 months?

LambrettaSX150 → 3/24/2011 1:14:22 AM #

The DFW is released, I was in it yesterday!!!

Max_G → 3/24/2011 12:23:16 PM #

to luuklinde:
LambrettaSX150 is right. The DFW is in Version 18 already. Update your ROF and enjoy flying DFW.

luuklinde → 3/24/2011 10:09:37 PM #

really??? i dint know that...i guess that was pretty stupid of me...

Great Job on the DFW CV guys, very nice flying bird!
Looking forward to this beautiful ship (Breguet 14).

Nothing to worry from that other sim, its MILES behind ROF! (not even close)

No worries about support either, you got it!

I've just bought ROF ICE version. Very impressive !
Thank you for your work guys !

Don'y worry guys! You deserve to be supported and you've earned it for a veeeeeeery long time Smile

ROF is already rock solid and you keep making it better and better!

Katzenliebe → 4/15/2011 6:32:47 PM #

DAS IST SO GUT

PikAs53 → 4/28/2011 11:38:18 AM #

Well, I hope that there will be some of the gunsights and instruments which I showed on the photos in my threads, and not to much futuristic equipment like this WWII gunsight.
Did the fieldmodifications include finaly also a better performing DVa in respect of speed??

SpikeHelmut → 5/28/2011 7:30:49 AM #

Ok, I bought another one in anticipation of the new career mode.  This looks like a great plane for that.

GMVitus → 5/28/2011 6:06:01 PM #

Not sure if someone already mentioned it but there are typos on this white (film?) roll. The caption is:

"Beim Geben nicht barühren"

I suppose that with "barühren" you meant "berühren", however the whole sentence doesn't make sence because "Geben" means "to give".

"Don't touch while giving" doesn't seam very logical to me ;)
