Dynamic Light

Dear Pilots!

Here is a small video demonstrating our new dynamic light sources feature.

From version 1.016 onward you will have an opportunity to use these new elements in missions such as the common camp fire which will light up the surrounding area automatically. For this purpose we have added new element settings to the Settings menu «Quantity of light sources». You will have an opportunity to set the number from 4 to 20, but please note that the bigger the number the bigger the hit on PC performance.

You’ll notice in the video that I have fired a signal pistol in different directions. It’s also a new element to 1.016. You will have an opportunity to fire the signal pistol in any direction you look at. You can also fire different color shells assigned to different keys. As an added bonus, if a flare round hits a pilot; he can be wounded or even killed. If you’re out of machine gun ammo, you can use the signal flare as a weapon of last resort. Flares cannot be used to destroy any other object such as a balloon; maybe this will be possible in the future.

Of course this is only the beginning and we still have a limit on how many light sources we can use in such a complicated project like a flight sim. However, we are happy that this new feature is available to you now. We hope that when the power of the average PC becomes even stronger in the future, it will allow us to light all the cities up, use candle bombs and star shells, which will create a very realistic environment and enable us to make even more cool features.

@jason, no I did not know this, but made the readings now, sorry to hear about the delay on the campaign mode!!! I have only limited time to do the readings and right now I'm more into the 6 or 4core upgrading readings al to be prepared to the next 1.0XX .

Beautiful progress!!
Looking forward to it.

But I have a couple of "real life" remarks.

First: Moon looks definetely TOO big.

Second: not all stars are always visible, depending on current lighting situations.
Stars close and around the Moon are dimmed by Moon's own light, but also all the stars close to the horizon line at sunset (when sunlight is still visible) would be dimmed, if visible at all.

balloons. You're partially fulfilled my wish. I hope to one day
destroy balls.

The night lights are a step closer to realism. Bravo and
continued like that.

Verry nice, Are aimable flares that do damage the first step to handheld guns in ROF? That would be awesome Smile

Great...imagine an early war air combat with only hand held guns. That would be really a novelty in flight sims, and a good test for even the most experienced virtual aces XD

What would be REAL Awesome would be a dynamic
Battle like Falcon has had for years now.
I wished for it with il2 , but alas, it wont ever happen.
Rise of Flight is still young, this news shows what you all at 777 can do ! If you can think it - you can do it !

I can see night missions in the works on the syndicate server, runways lined with camp fires.

is that a truck convoy down there, your team mates on comms dont see it. they tell you to "Light em up" with a flare.

Looks great.  Glad to hear about RBII/3D style campaign mode being worked on.  That was, without doubt, the very best campaign mode of any flight sim ever made, just an opinion.


I'm all geared up for this update, just so long as it's released before SoW/BoB.  (IL2 humor ... sort of)

Hello!
Nice works!Do the campfire have physical effects on game? I mean for ex. if I landed my plane on one, do the plane set on fire?
