Motherland protector day

Hello everybody! My name is Kate and I'm a pr-manager of «Neoqb».
Today it’s Motherland protector day in Russia. In compliance with our tradition I want to congratulate all users (men), who are enthusiastic about aircrafts, war, sky and games. You know, what the Art of War is.

More than that, I’ll show you a special present that we’ve prepared for you.

At the World War I Russia have not only taken a part in warfare at the sky but also have build aircrafts – not only their own, but also under licenses of foreign factories.  One of these aircrafts was Nieuport 17, produced by the Russian factory “Duks” under French license. In Russian history of the aviation Nieuport 17 was the main WWI fighter and remained in service during the Civil war. Famous Russian pilots of the World War I Ivan Smirnov and Alexander Kozakov made plenty successful flights on it.

So, meet the “Rise of Flight” new participant - Nieuport 17 made in Russia with overall aluminum paint scheme bearing a skull on the fin. It was the skin of Smirnov’s aircraft.

Hi Kate, I have a 1/32nd scale Nieuport 17 model kit I built recently in Ivans Smirnov's livery. Nice change of pace for the Ni-17 and an excellent pilot too boot! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Excellent! Laughing

Russia has a very long history in aviation. One of the most important is her women pilots, like the "Night Witches" in WW-2. I salute them and all aviators throughout history.

Thank you for the great update and flying machine presented here.

Thanks Kate.  And if I may say so, an excellent job of PR so far!  Other flight-sim developers could learn a great deal from you.

Just make sure an Ilya Mourametz variant is modelled someday (and that the Civil War addon is released in the west) and I'll be happy. S!

I would like an Sikorsky Il'ya Muromets B

Many people don't know this but russia had both the first four-engined aircraft (Sikorsky Ilya Muromets) and the First Four engined Cantilever Winged aircraft Tupolev TB-1

Russia has played a great part in aviation history

Albatros_ace → 2/27/2009 1:36:03 AM #

Sorry thats the TB-3

Looking fantastic. Will the airfield grass be like that in the game too? Small detail, but will greatly add to the immersion.

I like what I see, but one note or observation. I think the intake ports for the engine are too high. A first I though it might be a Dux's mod, but checking "The Imperial Russian Air Services" book, it would appear the position is the same as the French version. Maybe it is a perspective issue, but the engine access hatch should almost butt upto the intake.
Nice model though.
