Creativity

Hello and thanks for your patience!

Today's video will not show something really new: we have already showed similar shots in our previous videos. The main feature we would like to explain is how this video has been made.

We always support users who creates fine sim-videos and we wish to make their work more comfortable by giving them more opportunities to do it.
Usually you need to film a lot of materials and group them with the help of many different programs (for example, Adobe Premiere) for making similar videos.
This video is made only by using the mission editor of «Rise of Flight» which includes system of chambers and you can reproduce all scenes in the game as a usual mission.
You can direct a mission at the editor, issue its caption (with management of a font size, color a font and a captions' background, using fade effects), add necessary sounds (mp3 format), which will be reproduced at specified places, and the main point - you can insert another video (Bink Video format), for example any chronicle.
Now any gamer of «Rise of Flight» can create such video and share it with his or her friends.
We hope that such possibility will help to make missions brighter and more interesting for all users.
Besides, using of such inserts makes possible to tell others about different important events of the First World War, not only about the aviation.

We wants that our project will not be only another combat flight simulator, but also the new real tool for user creativity and expressing our world history in interesting way. And we hope that this feature will be claimed by our users.

Awesome!  I can't wait to "join the Air Force"!

That's just the kind of video tool I need (somethin' all-in-one).

Thanks for the clip LOFT, and thanks for showing us a larger dogfight in action too!

Thanks for the update fellas.

Good flak shooting!! Smile

I am very pleased to hear RoF will support cut-scenes etc. I'm looking forward to the mission builder! I hope it's a bit like the one in Operation Flashpoint, where you could almost build your own environment and go sight seeing for hours (my 5 year old son likes to do that, I make sure there are no enemies though! ;) )

Man I can not wait, I hope the campaign mode is also based on history and realistic.
I like that jasta15 blue/red color.

That video is awesome! The most realistic airspeed, machine sound, FM in any sim! .... and very good DM too. Thanks for the preview.

Just a small positive constructive comment on the DM, .... the Albatros crash, it would real crumble into the ground based photos that I have seen ( and in real-life ones too ) if falling like that. It seems just a little to solid to me. Hey, the EA crash is the apex of the dogfight! It must look awesome and real.

Thank-you, Loft. Very pleasing video, that leaves me more anxious than ever to fly in this sim ... and I'm happy to say that I've now got the computer upgrade that will run it!
I do agree about the Albatros crash looking too solid though ... just a bit more splintering on impact seems proper.

Hey guys, My Company is getting rady for this. Will we be able to host dedicated servers? And will those files be out upon release. We are gearing up few boxes for this. And if anyone in the community needs Dedicated Servers in the US for it, give me a shout at kurt@fiberflame.net

Bobb4 → 1/27/2009 4:00:02 PM #

How close are we to release date. Seen nothing on any major game forums yet?
Is the game a downdload only product and in that case how big is it? Lastly, the Dr1 will it be flyable?

I can't wait to make Rise of Flight movies. You are very evil to create such a great sim and not release it! Please release it in the US soon!

Lav69 → 1/27/2009 9:53:27 PM #

I wanna play! I wanna play! Please release soon. Looks incredible.

The crash seems wrong, is the prop still spinning? and due to the long grass, we do not see impact damage, is there any?
Second and more important the flak blast is on the right side of the plane. It then is shown from the front with most of the damage on the leftside? one is assuming the pilot was killed outright as well... Again like the previous poster, I am just giving constructive critizm.
I know you are just showing off the video camera angles and that could be the cause of my confusion.
But I would expect the plane to crumple more on impact with the ground, especially after taking so much structural damage in the flak blast. I would also expect more damage on the right side of the plane.
But as we know very little about how exacting a full damage model is, this actually might be 100% accurate

Which hardware was used for the production of this film? Good work!!!

migl.sant → 1/29/2009 4:52:54 PM #

Bobb4, i agree with you! But i don't know how to say some words. The cannons can make more smoke and when the flak blast on the tank it seems so unreal, where is the wave of dust or rocks of the blast? I only see flames when the tank has been shoot. I expect more realism. I hope the plane burns sometimes after the damage and after the emergency landing the plane create dust.
Like Bobb4 have said, this is a constructive criticism.

Those are excellent graphics. Low flying is going to be amazing!

I'm jonesing for this SIM!! We need a dedicated WW1 sim. I hope there is a US release.

Lav69 → 1/31/2009 2:36:33 PM #

The damage modeled in the video looked real enough for me. Awesome! And my new puter is on order. Can't wait!

The best ww1 footage and commentary I've ever seen: video.google.co.uk/videoplay
